I was planing on buying a 'Real' Gun soon... I was thinking of buying a new Hunting Rifle and looked at a really nice 7mm for about 300$, but then I looked in one of my Dads Gun Catalogs and they Showed a Russian Issued AK-47 for around 350$ I already got a 270 for hunting but I Need more 'Umpth' to take down a Moose me and my dad are going to hunt this Fall. |

if i had to choose something else, a 30-30, i believe mine is a
marlin. maybe a 30-06? and i dont see ak's as the best
hunting rifles, the accuracey degrades faster than other rifles.
maybe an SL8 or SL8B 2000?

I would want something a little larger than 7.63x39 caliber(AK Ammo) if I were to go moose hunting, like a 300 win. mag. or something in that range. but the 7mm would probly do the trick. but AK's have crappy accuacy, poor quality, and were made THOSE BLASSED COMMIES (just kidding). AK look cool but they're just not a good hunting rilfe.

Ak-47 would be stupid for hunting I mean I think you should at least have to aim to hunt otherwise it requires no skill.

If you have a .270, you don't need a 7mm, they are so close in performance that you might not notice the difference. An AK47 for $350 is not a bad deal, and if you get tired of it later on, you can easily sell it for what you paid for it. It is not especially accurate, but it is reliable, with parts and accesories being easy to find. For hunting moose, you might get away with using your .270, but I would recommend using a 30 cal or larger magnum rifle. You want something that not only hits hard, but that can also make a big hole. Since you probably aren't going to be hunting moose all that regularly, it might be best to borrow a rifle from someone. I used to have a Ruger 77 in .416. It would have been a good elephant or cape buffalo gun had I ever hunted in Africa, but it was too big to use out here on anything but moose. It kicked so hard that no one like to shoot it, and I eventually traded it off. |

get a .22 (lol), my grandpa killed a deer one shot between the eyes when it was running at him, and it dropped dead. ummmmmm, a .303 rifle would be a good choice. i got a .197, .220 and a .303. a .303 would do the trick!!!! u could get one for around $350-400 smackerS!!! |

Don't get the ak. Its only accurate to 100 yards and at any range it barely has the power to take down a deer. For Moose would recomend a bolt action .30-06. I own my fair share of firearms but for hunting I always use my Remington 7400. Its accurate, its powerful, and its reliable.

I dont Really Care how Accurate it is... its not like im ganna go Shoot up a Bank with that AK and I Dont need Accuracy for Taking down cops or Anything like that. I just like the Feel of the AK, and I already know how To Un-jam it when it does...(I watched a old Cop Training Video that teaches Cops how to unjam it with the Eyes closed but I'm not that good.) I Already got a SKS. Its ight but kinda Getting Boring. Edited by Panda Man |

the ak47 is good for what you want, but i would also look at ak74,
although it is less powerful by a great degree. i would als otake
a look into an m14, or m16, a3,4...etc.

You still need a class 3 weapon's licence to legally own and fire a fully automatic firearm. The only thing the ban had to do with fully auto firearms is that no new guns could be imported after the ban took affect. |
