I am a die hard cocker fan mine is an 02 like my profile says.
The reason I say this is not related to speed. I don't know anything about speed, I prefer this gun to all others because of the accuracy. I am the type of player who plays up front, snap shoots and uses about 250 paintballs in an entire day! I dont sit still or not shoot, I just dont miss! That's my two cents for what it's worth. I ahve owned 4 or 5 paintball markers and autococker is by far the most accurate, and the maintenance timing issues are myths. |

I would suggest an Atomix Tribal Imp rather than the Rat. They were just released a few weeks ago. They cost $550 for a non-vision custom milled/anoed Imp w/upgraded internals, new style vert Max-Flo, Blade trigger, Tapeworm and low rise. For $699 you can get one with a WAS board installed. A great deal for an aftermarket Imp and there aren't tons of them distributed yet so they have a distinctive look -

I have an 04 Vert and I love it. I would suggest it over an Impulse but only bcuz I would prefer a WGP 'Cocker to an Impulse. The 04 Vert is about $350 new, and isn't the Rat $650? Well, if it is I would take a 'Cocker over it for sure. With the money you save you could #1 get an E-Blade which will make your gun as fast as the Impy, or #2 get many upgrades such as WGP Kaner Kit (I have Pipe, It shoots darts but back peices get stuck on sometimes) Delrin bolt (I have Shooters 3rd Gen Air O Bolt, which aren't in production any more now they have the lightstick, but the Nexus bolt is good too, even though it weighs much more) a new 3-Way if you aren't going electric my friend has a Shocktech and that is a VERY nice MECH pull, a new Reg (I have a Black Magic) Maybe even the Full Nexus Internal kit which includes DART Bolt, Ram, 2 QEVs, Hammer, REx Dialer (I have that it seems nice) I got my gun used so I don't know how much better each individual part is over a stock part on a 04, but my friend has a few stock 'Cockers and one E-Bladed one and mine is soo much smoother. I would recommend getting a Stock 04 and seeing what needs to be upgraded, but a barrel will prolly be needed soon (I haven't used the stock ever so I dunno) and otherwise it is pretty well set unless you want it faster, or harder to short stroke. I really hope you join the people with 'Cockers on this forum and not the people with broken Impulses and no money.
Just my 2 cents. ~John~ |

Was'd Rat is 725$ Remember... If you buy a Rat Directly threw ratguns.com they will fix your gun for EVER... Also the impulse is probably thee most upgradeable marker on the market... Though Imp does have its Dark sides... if you run it on high pressure you'll blow a selenoid threw the roof (Like I did), and also you gadda upgrade that Bolt on the Impy P.D.Q. or it might go haywire on you... All around I'd pick the Cocker though, there much easier to clean and maintain over the impy... But they both have there strengths and weaknesses... If your going almost pure stock. Get the Rat Jr. if you got money to back up your cocker then Definatly go with the Cocker. My 5 cents. -Jeremy- |

I'll bet if you call them and ask about it, they won't have any in stock. They haven't sold any WAS'd Rats for quite a while now - Edited by DRAGON |

omg, how can u prefer a 2k4 cocker over an impulse. Cockers are terrible. my brother has an e-bladed 2k2 cocker and he's had so many problems. U cant walk a 2k4 cocker. If u want a good autococker then u would have to look into the super stock by wgp. Both guns are costumizable to the max, but out of the box the impulse is much better. with an impulse u should be able to get 10 bps out of the box. with the 04 ocker u could maybe reach 4 bps.

two things wrong... I belive that the impy can achive more than 10 bps and the cocker can get up to 6 bps outta the box... with a little pratice, a new 3 way, a few trigger mods i can now walk my mech mabye 12-13 bps... its not bad.... for a mech. |

That is a question that is up to you. Do you feel having an Electric gun is worth $300 more? I would say if you have ever shot one you would be in love. I just shot 4 month old dilapadated paint (Some of the paint looked like this () when normal would be O) and from about 50 feet I was getting a in a 6inch Diameter. That is this big ___________________________________________________ When I have new/decent paint I can get it in a 2inch Diameter _________________ I don't think an Rat Impy nor any other Impy can do that kind of accuracy. If you don't want to get in E-Blade the question you have to ask yourself is do you want Accuracy, or Speed. If you buy an E-Blade you have both. |
