What is the main difference(s) between the Matrix and DM4?

the DM4 is a matrix, (Dye Matrix 4). but just the matrix is a dye gun.

I only know the internals are redesigned for simplicity and greater flow.

From what I know, it's the milling, weight, internals, and just the name. All a DM4 is, is a tricked out matrix.
