for your school project... pricewatch.com might work better

it will list the lowest available price for a type of part you want

I prefer .223 over .68

Newegg

Also the best graphics card for your money is probbally a 128 mg 9800 pro, 9600 XT, or a 6800 GT. The 6800 gt if you have the money, otherwise one of the other 2 will suit. And the 74GB Western Digital® Raptor™ 10,000 RPM w/8MB Cache is a good harddrive, if you have the money.

Graphics...I would go with an ATI Radeon X800 XT SE.

And for a HD... I'd go with the Raptor.

Best video card-

Nvidia 6800 Ultra 256 PCI Express (I think they will be making a 512 meg version.)

-PS 3.0
-DDR3

Hard drive-

Hitachi 400GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

sammy, you're 100% wrong...

9800XT is better than the 9800Pro or 9600...

the X800 is top of the line ATI if you can find one... which you can't... especially the X800 XT SE or platinum edition... those things are like nowhere to be found... if you go with a GeForce card... the 5950 Ultra you could probably find... the 6800 series you will find the 6800 (128, 750mhz or some nonsense) everywhere... the GT is harder to come by, but a friend has his overclocked like crazy so it beats out anything ATI has to offer... and the Ultra is also like a myth...

i think ATI and Nvidia are holding out till christmas season to flood the market with their next gen cards... if they release now they will have to drop prices by then... for christmas sales... if they release... early to mid-november they can demand top dollar ($500+) for their cards then cut their prices in january/february on all cards.

you'd have better performance and more reliability with 2xraptors in a raid
