    Posted: 30 October 2004 at 9:59pm
As you know, when a military weapon is used a lot in combat they lose
the "new appearance" and take on an aged, somewhat weathered look.
Since you all seem to be into the accurate look on your MilSim markers,
here's a way to achieve that "used" look that military weapons have.

Go to your local arts and crafts store (your girlfriend will love it) and pick
up some "Treasure Gold #3070 Pewter." It's a small waxy substance artsy
fartsy folks use to weather frames anc such. You apply it with your finger.
Just dip it in the stuff and then lightly smear it on the edges of your
marker...much like drybrushing a model. The final result will be a
weathered appearance like the photos below. Practice on something first.
It works great on a flat black marker like the Tippmann A5. You've all
seen this marker but here it is with a new finish...

Just two different angles of the same technique dude.

Look closely and you'll see that the raised areas are highlited in silver
giving the marker an aged appearance.

I just took off the spetznaz front handguard and put a
Flatline with a bipod mounted (as on my other gun). I
did the same weathering technique though. I'll try to
get some more photos up soon if you want some
outside stuff....now it's dark outside when I get off work though.

I'll shoot some good photos this weekend for you.

That's a great idea, thanks for passing it along. It would definitely cover a scratch nicely as well.

Look closely at the RAISED areas on the marker and
the edges how it now has a "used" or "weathered"
appearance.
