has anyone tried to full on run, just run down a flight of stairs? im not talking just going down them fast, im talking about getting a head start and running, then when you hit the stairs just keep on running? what do you think would happen?

if you ran normally then you would fall of course by instinct you would do more of a jump

You would probably fall if you tried to run normally down a flight of stairs unless they aren't steep. Going fast down stairs is still running downstairs. |

your legs; you have to do small steps because of the length of the stairs. On flights of stairs with very long steps (gradual inclines) it's possible. |

i saw a kid in 8th grade jump down a flight of 20 or so steps i thought he was gunna go through the window at the bottom...that woulda sucked cuz it was about 2 storys off the ground....

The big problem is if you're running faster than gravity can keep you on the stairs. Think of it like the space shuttle in orbit. It is still falling towards the Earth, but it is moving forward at such a speed that the slope of the Earth is falling away at the same rate the shuttle is falling. See?
If the stairs were short, you'd look like you were just jumping forward off the top and hitting the landing below. If the stairs were long, you'd still look like you were jumping forward, but you'd hit the stairs hard and likely lose your footing because your forward momentum would carry your center of gravity beyond your ability to balance. |
