I was about to get a Flatline for my a-5, when i was reading some reviews and alot of the weakness's were loudness and noiselevel of the barrel. i play woodsball only basicly and i hate having a loud marker... what do you have to say ?

Unless you use an illegal silencer ANY shot will be heard with ANY barrel. Noise doesnt really make a difference.

It's turbo loud. Only thing I've heard louder is the Bigshot.

I'd have to say your question of noise is basically worthless. ALL barrels make enough noise to be heard from the other end of the field. I play outdoors as well and even on a 4 acre field and bigger you can hear someone shooting at you. Asking this question is like asking which gun should I shoot at someone...my 9MM or my .357. Yes one is louder then the other but ANY one you use is going to be heard PERIOD.

We just played 10 on 10 on a 6 acre woods Saturday and one of the other team members had my set up. An A5 with a flatline...tell you what when the ref yelled GO It was easy to tell where all 10 were as soon as they pulled the trigger. I was trying to "hear" where the guy with the a-5 flatline was as he was the ONLY one that could reach me under the pinetrees (Non of the other guns could shoot straight and far enough, as they had to shoot at a 30+ degree angle to reach me and thus were putting the paint into the thick trees overhead) but even when we got within 200 feet of each other I could tell which was which.

Hope that helps.

When playing with the (A5) Flatline, YOU do not notice much of an increase in volume. Your target will probably notice hear firing that is slightly louder than a normal marker. The big difference is the type of sound that they (and you) hear.

The Flatline has a very distinct, machine gun sound. (Reminds me of the older Kalashkinovs). Unlike most markers which emit a poping or puffing sound, the flatline (on a stock A5) has a very distinct crack sound. Its much like the difference between a shotgun and a rifle; there isn't a huge difference in volume, but one is much sharper and clearly defined than the other.

I have found this works to your advantage. People KNOW who's shooting at them when you use the Faltline. Depending on your appearance/reputation, this is an incredible advantage. Providing that you haven't proven in previous games that you are an absolutely worthless player, they will be intimidated in a big way.

Yeah it is louder than most, I am thinking because it isnt ported. But you cant beat the range and accuracy of the flatline while you are in the woods. being able to out range your enemy is a big advantage.

Like others have said in this thread......

ALL barrels make enough noise to be heard from the other end
of the field.

The best way to silence your barrel is to take it off the marker
put a ball in one end and blow it through...when you have a
target ..seriously you'll get noise any way you look at it.
One shot , one kill .....then pass the dutch for the victory dance!
