a timmy is a timmy... to a point

their typically all the same, the only diff is milling.

the maintenance isnt hard, but their not the best quality guns, they tend to be brittle.

I've had to maintain an assortment of high end guns, so my opinions and comparisons are based on these guns:  E-blade cocker with nexus internals/externals, dm4, 2k4 dark timmy (based on alias), and angel 4 fly.

The cocker is the most complex of them all, and requires a higher learning curve (possibly trial/error) to time the gun.  Otherwise WGP and Planet Eclipse parts are grade A.

The bolt/ram design of the matrix series is really bloody simple.  Follow the manual instructions, and pay attention to the o-rings (quite a lot of them).  Their design is so that you can't misalign the internals.

Angels are easy but you will require proprietary or specialized tools to remove the ram and lpr.  Misalignment can occur, but it's simple otherwise.

Timmies are easy as well, but care must be taken not to damage the internals, such as barbs, board.  Some internal parts are delicate and situated in tight places.  Routing of internal hosing (yes, there is quite a bit) is...interesting.

The timmies you are interested in are basically the same, except for milling and weight.  But if you want to buy the ugliest gun, get a species.

I would suggest a 2002 Timmy from Bradyspaintball.com for $800. It's compatable with anything you could want to put into it, although it may not look as good as some of the new ones. The big thing is, you can upgrade it as much as you want because it's so cheap. Also, if you were gonna go get a high end gun, I'd suggest a Matrix, they're the nicest guns to shoot, I'm pretty much obsessed with them. That, or the new Proto Matrix, I'm not a big fan, but they'll be just as fast as the DM4, slightly smaller, and they look really space-age. They run about $950-ish I think.

If ur gonna get a texas storm hurry cause they were discontinued.

Ive seen videos of texas storms shoot and yes they r fast and have WAS so therefore theyre good.  Ive seen a lasoya shoot and they r quiet, really fast, and accurate.  I dont know about the other ones but all i know is all of them can shoot faster than u.

Nothing so far beats the Alias Timmy. I've seen videos and now own one and I am convinced it is probably one of the best high-end electro guns out there on the market.

Its is true the Intimidators are pretty much all the same except for the milling. Make sure that you hold a Timmy and play around with the trigger to make sure you like the way it feels. Some Timmys have a different trigger feel and are different in weight.

WAS boards aren't entirely accurate for rate of fire.  There was a thread on pbnation, explaining that the WAS takes the shortest time between shots to calculate the rate of fire.  This is the same for my angel fly board.  For a more precise reading, the average of at least a few shots should reflect the rate of fire.  Because this is not the case with my angel fly, I can reach 24 bps without much effort.
