I'm not a Tippmann guy so I don't know if what I'm asking is common knowledge or not so here goes.

I'm working on my friend's carbine, I've done some performance upgrades that have gotten moderately good results but I'm looking to squeeze a bit more out of it. He has the starfire bolt on it and the thing that I noticed is that when the bolt is fully forward there is a gap between the front end if the power tube and the rear of the bolt. This allows the gas to bleed off up through the ball feed and causes loss of ball velocity. Is this standard for the carbines? We're going to hunt through his garage to try to find the original bolt and see if it fits better but if that fails I was wondering if anyone knows of a difference in the stock bolt and starfire that causes this. Basically wondering if we should get a replacement stock bolt?

Thats standard for trash upgrades like the starfire bolt.

Just get a stock bolt, itll work better.
