k,
just read the new idea forum, A. what the hell is wrong with having proper bullet shaped rounds,, and just rifling the barel like any other gun. B; why isnt there a 40mm tenis ball sized big ass paintball,,, mabey with a percentage of foam in it to make it not take off ur limbs,, C. off that topic but does anyone think that one of those scenario m16 a3 barel covers would fit round a flatline. actually,, its quiet short,, probly look more like an m4. and what about if you put one of those m203 heat dispating barel guards on it,, there big,, would they fit round it? cheers fellas,, crazy ideas,, |

Rifiling the barrel will decrease the accuracey of a paintball.
Seeing as there is fluid inside the paintball, and when the paintball
flys through the air this fluid gets swished around. By rifling
the barrel, if it rotated the paintball at all, it would just increase
this swishing making it even more less accurate. If you got any
rotation it wouldn't be very much.
Why would you wan't to shoot tennis balls at someone when you can just light them up with your paintball marker? And no idea about the cover. |

no, when a paintball goes through a rifled barrel, the shell will spin, and the fluid stays still, just like if u have a glass w/ water and ice in it, try it, if u spin the glass, the water and ice will stay in its place as the glass moves, this is what happens to a paintball and is y rifling a paintball barrel does nothing to increase accuracy

what about if u put a low density foam in there so that it would stop the
fluid swishing,, im a bit of a scenario player and im always wanting to make things cooler,, and i think firing a 44mm paintball could take out a few players if they were close enough,,, i saw this one photo after a motro atack and there was paint every where,,, eliminated 8 players that were stupidly behind the same cover,,, so a 44 mm paintball would at least be fun to use if not that practical |

http://forum.ariakon.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=900&PN=1 That is written by a friend of mine. I am eagle over there btw. This explains why things such as rifleing will not work and why. |

The fill is not that thin so it doesnt move, it will move with the
paintball. The paintball's velocity is not so high that it the
shell is the only moving part. Besides, whether or not im wrong
the shell is spinning hence making it more suceptable to wind, and
other elemants hense lowering accuracy.
I thought you literraly ment shooting a tennisball at someone Edited by Glassjaw |

its not the paint that u need to keep acurate,,,, its the ball as a whole,,, u still need the case to rotate for it not to tumble through the air |

the slime from the balls is in the barrel, so thus Glass correct, if u even feel inside or look in your barrel, u will see the slime, and feel the slime of the ball. thats whay even in manuals, troubleshooting- why is the ball curving- reasons- the gellation from the paintball in the barrel, clean barrel.

Whether or not the barrel is clean will effect it, but what i was talking about had nothing to do with the condition of the barrel. |

hmm bullet shaped paintballs eh. well thats not the newest of ideas is it? this would not work for 1 main reason. if you have bullet shaped paintballs then you would have to have some sort of magazine on your marker. some senario players might say cool but a magazine can only store about 30 rounds and as paintballs are bigger then it would be about 20. and then you would have to swap magazines all the time, and this would be expensive and reloading would be very often and teadious. so its real not of great convinience to have bullet shaped balls. also accuracy and range would only improve slightly and there for it would be useless. another point is that paint manufactures will not buy a whole load of new parts for some wacky idea. so paintballs would cost a hell of a lot. paintball guns do not have the velocity to make rifleling effective. |

thats because it is curved, the paintball wants to go straight but hits the barrel so that friction would make it grip the barrel and curve. |

Making the paintballs bullet shape will accually decrease accuracy. This was done by a company a while back, and they failed. We are still basically throwing jell-o at people. Making them bullet shape would make its wobble towards the target and would lose accuracy. We would need to make the back sort of plastic(as the company talked about before did) and make it go as insane velocitys. This would make them very dangerous(plasic even at 250 fps can be extremely dangerous. The magazines talked about by gumball would also be a problem. Read this http://forum.ariakon.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=900&PN=1 before posting again. This PROVES why paintballs, will never be as accurate as a real gun. Edited by Ariakon_Eagle |
