I'm pretty sure I would like to buy a Tippmann (this will be my first gun I've ever owned, but have played alot especially in the pump-action days), I would also like the option to use flatline. Between the A-5 and the 98c which would you choose if you were me. From what I have gathered the cyclone is bad ass but uses too much air and is too big and maybe a bit more delicate than the 98c. The 98c is basically a tank and cheaper. If I put an electric hopper on it would it perform as good as the cyclone system. Anyway if you could only choose from above which would you choose and why if you have the time.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi, I would choose the A-5. Why because I have both A-5 and 98c and play with my guns alot... In my opinion you should get the A-5 because look, feal, and performance and if you take care of it, it should last you a very long time.

98 Custom, more durable, reliable, easier to mod and has less moving parts than the A5, even though the A5 is alot easier to feild strip compared to the 98c, overall the 98 Custom. And as fer the "New Tippmann" its only a rumor thats been goin on since the summer of 04'. |

Marker I have to say 98C, good, reliable and easy to take care of, barrel I use the J&J Pro 1, excellent accuracy, silent, nice looking, and I use field paint 4 brakes in 3 boxes(6000pbl).

Don't listen to Enos shenker, its a fraud who was guested by him. anywat, 98C because you need to know more maintenance habits for the A-5. You need to take good care of the Cyclone, otherwise I'll see you in the maintenance and tech help forum asking why your Cyclone stopped spinning. The 98C is easier to care for, and makes for a better first gun than the A-5. The A-5 does perform better, but it needs more care. if you think you can handle figuring out how the A-5 works and goes together, go for it. Otherwise, stick with the 98C for a year or two.

exactly... thats basically a rule too... the more crap you get on your gun or the better the gun you get you will need to give it for maintenance.... like look at cockers if you don't take care of those things they'll break... so the better the gun the more time you need to maintain it..... it depends on how deticated you are |

Defitnitly go with the 98 custom. They are the most hardcore paintball gun on the market, I mean that by saying that they are the hardest gun to break and are the most upgradeable paintball gun in the world.

You should get the 98c hands down. You don't need an electric hopper in the first place. The cyclone feed system is a waste of money. For the price of the A5 of can get a more durible 98c and an electric hopper. Then if you ever upgrade, barrow, or swap guns you will have an electic hopper right there. Try doing that with the A5. |

I've gotta say the 98c as well. I love the feel of the 98c, and
actually found the A5 abit too awkward for my liking...but that's just
personal preference. The 98c is a lighter marker though.
And, as the rest have said, it's extremely customizable, and
riduculously hard to break. I use a Lapco 12" BigShot for a
barrel, and haven't really found anything better for a single-piece
barrel...it's shiny enough to see yourself inside of.

Well we can tell hes not the sharpest knife in the bunch.
any way on barrel type it depends on what you play speedball/woods I would not get the flatline if you intend to play speed ball alot I would get a lapco or ceramic I own both of the and they are excelent barrels IMO If your a woodsballer the flatline is an awsome barrel to use its got a couple of nifty features like tilting the gun a little bit will cause the paintball to turn which ever way you tilt the gun which means you might be able to hit those campers who hide behind a tree all game without getting to close to them |

All this talk of a new gun is not true. The prices have dropped because of more people playing the game. This whole new gun thing was started by some kid in the paintball ideas section tippmann has not realeased any info on a new gun.

First off thanks alot for your replies, here is a nifty story that my girlfriend isn't too happy about. So I'm all exited about getting a marker and I'm explaining to my girlfriend that I want to go get it soon because I'm sick of the rental routine. She begged me not to..... and I was like, you know I'm dying for a brand new marker of my own I have to! And as good as she is she let the cat out of the bag.... She had already bought me the 98c with RT installed for X-mas. If I could have got paintball off my brain for 2 seconds I would have realized what she was hinting. "Damn it....." but at the same time "Hell yeah!!!!". Gotta give her props! (Check her out she's the one with the brown/dark hair http://www.hellhathnofury.net/ ). Anyway, besides me ruining my girlfriends suprise which I feel happily guilty about, I got some cash for my marker upgrade if I feel so, which I kinda do since I put the money aside just for that (don't worry she's got her X-mas present comming). If you were me and had a new 98c with an RT and no more than $200 to have a good time with, what would you do? Thanks again for all your help fellas, I use to teach independent music business incase any of you guys need some help, send me a PM. Take care! Edit: As asked before, I prefer woodsball, only because of lack of options, I would like to get into speedball also. Edited by shootiehg |
