It's a chemically done thing.  You wont be able to do it yourself.

You look in the yellow pages for it, or search on google for a place to do it.

However, duplicolor sells a spray paint that looks like its anodized, but is just paint. Check it out... http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html

You can do it yourself but you need the materials.  It is a process by which i believe a liquid acid eats into the metal and leaves color.
The desire for polyester is just to powerful.

an electrical current runs through the metal, and the color actualy becomes part of the metal.  There is a way to do it by yourself, but you may get shocked or ruin your paint.
Just shoot yourself and save me the trouble.

they pretty much covered it but i would recommend it its very
nice and if u can find a place to get it done for
cheap....well...even better
