I have a 98C with an RT and I am chopping balls. I have an Empire Reloader hopper. I have slowed the RT down to about where I had it set before I got a motorized hopper and I am still chopping. Any ideas on how I can measure how fast I am shooting so I can figure out if I just have he RT turned up too fast? Or any ideas on why I am chopping. The loader is supposed to load 10-12 bps.

Make sure the batteries are fresh. You can measure using a chrono, or
record yourself shooting and open it in a recording program and count.

I used a sound recorder program on my computer that shows and makes a scrolling soung wave according to the volume of the sound. Use that and just count the peaks per second to get the bps.

The easiest way is to just shoot it over the big red chrono. Most people don't know that it records bps as well as velocity -

easiest way is to count how many balls you have in your hopper, then have a friend say go! while he counts to 1 mississipi, in the mean time fire as many balls as u can, as soon as he finishes sayin that count how many balls are left in your hopper, pure genius!!

Sounds like your outshooting your loader. Turn ROF down and try it again.

That is definitely an easy way of doing it but to be more accurate, use a stop watch instead of a friend. Just count like 20 paintballs and have somebody start the timer when you shoot the first ball. When you shoot all 20, stop the watch and divide 20 by the number of seconds it took to fire them all and the result is balls per second. It may be off by a little because it takes fractions of a second for reaction time when starting/stopping the timer and whatnot. It should only be off by no more than 2 bps though. Also, if your hopper only feeds up to 13 bps then it's possible that you're outshooting it. Many people have cranked their RTs up to 16 bps so if you're shooting that quick, that could easily be the problem. If the stream of paint isn't constant when shooting a long burst (you fire blanks often) then the hopper is most likely not feeding fast enough. |
