I picked those 2 because Bush has one of the biggest influences in the world, and in my opinion, Saddam Husein was a threat to the whole world, not just the U.S.

Bush's reelection, while interesting, doesn't really change a whole lot.  Saddam's capture was fun to watch, but he was pretty much a non-factor at that point anyway, as I understand it.

 

Sleeper story of the year:  Cuba is seriously prospecting for oil.  A major oil find by Cuba could shake up regional economies and politics.
