Prolite vs. 68 Carbine

   I have been searching PBnation and some other forums for Pro Carbines and 68 carbines. I came across quite a few Prolites and was wondering what the main differences were between the 68 and the prolite. I also ask because procarbs and 68 carbs are getting hard to find but the prolites seem to be in abundance. Any info would help.

	You're going to need to get Enos or another mod. on this one. Most of the regs. are 98 or a-5 guys. I do know the prolites are the newer ones and I have seen some of that info in here on stickys. Try maint. and repair and the uber faq. Edited by Liquid3

	The pro-lite and 68-carbine are the predessors of the pro/carbine. The pro series (I belive that is the correct name) was combined with the carbine series to produce the pro/carbine. I personally would take a pro-lite over a 68 carbine anyday, but thats just me. Main differences between them is weight and a few design changes. The 68 carbine is a bit lighter and does not have a gas-thru grip like the pro-lite. Other then that they are pretty much the same.

	I have a few 68 carbines and love them. I also have owned the Pro-carbine, Pro-lite and a couple of 98's. The early 68 Carbines (plastic gas line) had a valve system similar to the Pro-lite. Both are good guns, but you can't do much with the Pro-lite as far as upgrades go do the gas-through grip. The Newer 68 (copper gas line) has a CVX valve like the Pro-carbine. In fact many parts will interchange between the new 68 and the Pro-Carbine. In my opinion the Newer 68 Carbines are the best Tippmann value out there right now. The resell value is about the same as the Pro-lite and less than the Pro-Carbine. About the only difference between the New 68 Carbines and the Pro-Carbine is the foregrip/ball feed system. Any upgrades for the Pro-Carbine will fit the 68 Carbine, plus you can add a "D-feed" system to the 68 if you want.

	Alright, Im just lookin for a new project since I've finished painting my 98c. Right now Im going for whatevers cheapest. Does the Pro-lite use a CVX valve?

	The Pro-lites did not have the CVX valve. To the best of my knowledge the first use of the CVX was on the later model 68-Carbines with the Copper gas line.

	I'd go Carbine over Pro-lite. Just my $0.02. I never once had a single problem out of mine, with the exception of the feed neck falling off. But you can get a the metal one, or the powerfeed kit. I have busted more balls in my A-5 then I every did in my Carbine. If I were starting a project, this is the one of those I would choice. To be honest, I will have me another Carbine, as soon as I stop getting out bid on Ebay. 68 Carbine, cvx, Expansion chamber, double trigger/45 grip, 16 inch Armson Stealth.
