Is your ball detent in the gun, or on the floor somewhere?

If the ball detent is broken, installed wrong, or missing will allow more than one paintball in the barrel per shot.

well, for the ball problem, you are probibly missing a ball detent, a ball detent holds the ball in the chamber befor the bolt hits the ball. it keeps the paintball from rolling out the barrel or just a bunch coming out at the same time. i had that problem with my cocker. but as for the velosity, im really not sure, were you playing outside in the cold with co2? maby the c02 is frozen, therefor the balls arnt going far enough. but im not too sure about that.
