Hey ya'll im new to this site but i just wanted to ask. Would a 98 sniper setup be better than a a-5 with flatline. It seems the 98 with that 21" barrel would be kinda awkward to lug around and people around here tell me the a-5 would be better. They are both about 330 dollars and im gonna buy one within the week

Do a search on 21" barrels and the word "sniper". it'll help you understand why this thread is probably gonna get riped to shreds in a few minutes.

The A5 is the better gun. It is so... upgradable. Just look at the Systems Page for Tippmann. I have had an A5 for a year now and play almost every weekend. I have seen several 98s on the field and they all envy the A5. The Snipe remark refers to the one shot one kill. I play alot of woods ball. The field owner here says I know his field better than he does and he grew up on it. The point is that once you shoot, you have to move from your position. Watch any war movie and you will see that once a sniper shoots his position is given away. He must either move, or make the decision to take as many as he can before he is shot out. The 32 Degrees Whisper barrel (around $40.00) is quiet. The Flatline is good for speed ball. The Flatline is very noisey. I have both. Hope this helps.

Out of the box the a-5 has a better rate of fire. The 98c will do better than the a-5 if upgraded. It's smaller and lighter. All the evidence on barrels suggests that anything over 14" just wastes gas and does not improve accuracy. So don't let the 21" barrel sway you. To get a 98c to surpass an a-5 you will probably spend at least a hundred or so on upgrades.

I guess the message never went out to let the newbies know that snipers do not exist in any woodsball games....but only in those scenario games.....well anywho back to the subject....as to the question which one is better fer a sniper setup
, both the A5 and 98c are equals in that field and both Flatline barrels on both markers perform the same, the 98c Flatline is 1 3/4 longer than the A5 Flatline and if yer thinkin bout usin a 21" barrel to make it into a uber sniper rifle ferget it!.....you'll jus be wasting yer money on a POS barrel...but I do know one good use fer that barrel, use it as a spare handle fer a jack.

They're the same gun, with the A-5 bieng easier to take apart.
Any barrel over 14" isn't even a barrel, just a big tube. IMO I'd
get the 98c. I find it lighter and easier to lug around.

this is very funny.how in the world can u say that the a-5 is upgradable, when the 98 is more upgradeable.and how in the world is the flatline good for speedball.but for a good barrel, get a wisper, good price-to-quality ratio |

You gave yourself away when you posted that you have a laser sight. Did you buy it at WalMart? Just count the amount of upgrades for each gun. Which one has the most? Can you put an EGRIP on your 98? Do you have a Cyclone Feed? Doesn't the Flatline fly farther and straighter than it's competitors? ( I think this makes it good for speedball.) Re - read my post. I informed you that I do own a Whisper also. I use it in the woods. |

The A-5 is and allround good gun. I have been playing wood ball and have been playing as a sniper because the snipers are the most dangerous players out there. So if ur ganna get a gun for sniping get the A-5. A-5,14'' whisper, TAPCO Tactical Stock, BT-16 14'' barrel, BT-16 Bipod,Adco red dot sight,FLATLINE |
