Ok, so this was High Voltage's pwn idea, so here it is:

Build the chewp a gaming comp.
People keep harrasing me to get a PC so I can play games and such with them, and we starting talking about how all the spare computer parts that people have lying about, combined, could probably build a decent computer. So, lets hear if this will work.
We'd set up a central location for everything to get mailed to, then they'd assemble it as pieces came in, then send it my way.
There would be a sticky where you could get the address, and say what you were sending and so forth.

So, what do you think? Should the sticky be made, and the building start? Would you contribute?

Give me a PM when you can play BattleField: Vietnam.

Why not just get an AlienWare computer?

Nice idea.

seriously, the gaming facility he goes to is crap.

donate extra stuff ya got, the goal is one to support CS Source, so processor and graphics need to be sufficient. RAM is no big issue and motherboards are not hard to come by. psu's and cases...cheap. choopie, kick in some money too.

this may actually work

That's what we're avoiding. We know people have parts kicking around from their last upgrade, like plenti is using a disc drive as a cup holder... We're calling on people to send their extra bits, so we can do this.

Think the sticky should be made? The sticky would have an address, and you would say what you were sending.

Questions, comments?

If I had parts I wasnt using, I'd send them out, what am I going to use them for? That's the kind of attitude I'm hoping for, I've heard a few generous people in here.

that is very true. some people on this forum are very generous. But most people like to feel safe and keep those extra parts as spares so if or when something **edited**s up, you can still use your computer in the meantime while you buy the new part.

Well, I'm starting with nothing, so anything is an improvement. Thank you, I think I'll have the sticky up soon.

Hell, I've got a 9600XT, K8N-Neo Platinum (not sure if I have a spare CMOS jumper for it though), and an A64 3200+ I might send your way if I can't find something better to do with it.
