Just running this by you guys before I call Tipp. I have modded all 4 of my friends 98C's. While I was polishing thier internals I noticed that their reciever halves are much better casted than mine. They all had just a few very small high spots and some overspray while both of my halves are very pitted and nasty (just my luck) even after polishing. Is this common? Does anyone else have crappy castings? Will it wear the bolts and o-rings faster even though it is polished? Should I just see what,if anything Tipp. will do?    Thanks.

I had polished my friends 98C internals a couple of months ago.  His had overspray and was pitted like your 98C, his was very poor in the front bolt area.  There hasn't been any trouble before or after polishing.

my friend said by the looks of the "overspray", its actualy some powder coat that was only painted over on the outside. thats why its hard to take off that coat when polishing. he worked in a car painting shop so i believe him. but if its physicaly rough and pitted, its obviously a bad cast.

Blade, I'm not going to tear down my gun at this late hour to take a pic and post it. so here goes. Paint overspray is a fine incomplete misting of paint that doesn't coat the part. It is inadvertantly sprayed where they don't want it, but is part of what happens when you use a spraygun for painting. It is a rough uneven surface that can feel like fine sandpaper.  Pitting is (in this case) caused by the molten metal not flowing into the mold properly and there are small surface or internal voids in the finished casting. This can be caused by insuffiecient mold or metal temp. or contaminents on the mold or in the metal. It usually looks like rust pitting does. If you wire brush a very rusty part back down to clean metal they look similar. Hope this helps you.
