My A-5 gets decent (ie, more than 500/20 oz.) gas mileage. It could be better, but I am not going to pull my recomendation because of it. I would buy the A-5 over the 98C.

The A5 uses about the same amount of air that the M98 does. However the A5 is capable of higher sustained rates of fire, and will tend to shoot more liquid CO2. It is this fact that nobody seems to understand that makes people believe that the A5 is a "gas hog". My A5 is set up to shoot 13bps in full auto at 255fps, and will get 500+ shotts from a 9oz, and more than 1000 from a 20oz, using CO2. So if you want to play tournaments and hit 90bps walking the trigger, you will be disapointed with the A5. But if you want good firepower and trouble free feeding, the the A5 is where it's at.

Go with the A-5. Out of the box it is a great gun!!! I have an A-5 and an Angel 05 Speed. For woods play I pull my A-5 over the Angel anyday of the week. You dont need any upgrades to have a great marker. It uses about the same amount of gas as any other marker and mine has never chopped a ball. If you have the money get the A-5 and the Flatline Barrel.

The only real differences between the M98 and A5 are the ergonomics of the grips and the feeding system. They are the same for accuracy, power, and durability. However with the addition of the egrip and flatline, the A5 takes on a life of its own. If you can, get the A5 with these upgrades, invest is some quality small bore paint, and own the day.

A-5. It's not that bad of a gas hog. I went paintballing over the weekend and I had a 20oz shoot 800+ rounds. So don't worry about it. Plus, you shouldn't worry as much about how many rounds you can shoot, because if you develop the skill, it should take only a few rounds to get a man out (provided you fired a few to give yourself cover then snapshoot the guy out).

wow, I get at least 700 shots off a full 14 ounce tank and my gun has nothing but a pen spring trigger mod and I can shoot the worst kind of crappy paint through it without a problem. Definitely go with an A-5 and don't believe the crap on that other web site because they probably don't even own A-5's.

The 98C and A-5 have basically the same efficiency. But an A-5 will still get fewer shots per tank than a 98, because the 98 can go until the tank is empty (although the shots will droop), but the A-5 will stop loading when the tank gets low. This amounts to about 20-50 shots per fill, at the most. You can still shoot, but will have to manually operate the Cyclone. If your friend is getting 1200 shots from a 20oz with a 98C, that is above average - most people report 900-1100, which is about the same for A-5 owners. Good luck. |
