Not the most original idea, but it might work. make them plastic disposables and load them up with some medium quality paint or even have multiple levels of quality of the paint in the clips. I want to make them universal so any marker will work with them. If any tippmann XO's see this, take this idea into consideration.

I don't understand the whole quality thing. But paintball clips do exsist. And by the way Tippmann doesnt actually read the fourm.

Sounds to me like pre-filled pods that you just buy, take out of their packaging before a game, and jam the mystery paint into your gun. What a fun that'd be. If that's the case, I think Brass Eagle beat you to it.
It seems like all the cool cats do this:
Custom 98, Flatline, r/t, CAR stock, custom camo paintjob, which every hopper I feel like putting on it, vertical adapter, oh dibs, I'm running out of charact

that would be cool, but i would make them out of brushed gun metal or alluninum so you could reuse them and load em' too.  that would definately add a different realm of paintball.  i think it would be awesome.
Because I can.

Tippmann already had an Idea similar to this, it was called the Tippmann SMG. It used strips of plastic tubes w/ paintballs in them, and was fed by a mag coming in from the side, like the old sten machine pistols of WW2. Tippmann stoped making them a long time ago.

I don't think the market would be there. The capacity for the clips would be small, and they would add a large amount of bulk.

BTW, getrealpaintball.com needs to hire a new web designer.

They actually have less bulk than a hopper, but that’s because they have less rounds in them, and so I agree w/ you in the sense that not many people would buy them because they like having 200 rounds in there gun, whereas the mags only have 30 or so.

I Have Considered this Idea many times. Its true that it is totally unecessary, and less efficient then what is being used now. but It would be very fun if there were scenarios set up where everyone used the same Magazine system. It would give the game a more realistic twist to it. And u would be more likely to waste less paint. (if you care about that sort of thing) Also a gun with a clip and a 12g could be made to be quite small. So I guess a clip might not be totally useless after all. well there are my thoughts

I like that idea and I've been working on a clip for my 98c.  Have you looked at the RAP4 guns?  they have the paintballs loaded into the clip and eject the shells out the side.  also, there are a few tommy guns on the net where the clip holds the pb.

Although I think it is a cool idea and some people would like to see them marketed, is the monetary incentive there to design, make, test, and market the clips and adapters/markers that use them? It takes an appreciable demand to bring a product to market. I just don't know if it is feasible.

I've been using a magazine for 17 years.  I started with the rapide, and then I took my GZ and fixed it to take the rapide mag.  I couldn't go up aganist the semis with a 12 gram.

I wouldn't swap it for anything.  I've used it against pro teams (in the woods) , and I had a great time.

My mag only holds 40 rounds so I don't do a lot of heavy suppression.  You can see it here:

The photos are pretty grainy, jim- how does the mag work?

AWESOME fields by the way- especially the 'urban' one. Rappelling from the roof... *drool*

SMG-60 and 68 both had magazines with stripper clips in them.

The ATS line from www.getrealpaintball.com uses a chain fed magazine.

The RAP or RAM uses individual stripper clips for each round, but its 40cal paint. Accuracy is total crap.

If I recommend anything its an AT-85. Their accuracy is unsurpassed as of yet.

Getrealpaintball.com and Rap4.com both use 43 caliber paintballs for their markers, Tippmann was the only company that used a magazine or clip (back in the early days of paintballing) to load 60 cal. ball for their SMG 60 (notice the 60 with the SMG, thats the size of the ball it used) but, the capacity for all those markers are very limited, compared to what we all use today, if one wished to use a marker that still uses a "clip or tube", then invest on a pump...which is still very popular.

Incorrect, evil. ATS uses standard .68 caliber. You're correct about RAP series markers though- they fire either .40 or .43 depending on the version of marker and the age.

Ive looked at all the Rap4 markers at their store here in Northern California, they all use either a 40 and 43 cal balls but, there is big talk from another forum that Im in about a nade launcher using 68 cal balls (that will be in another thread in the future)...and youre right about the ATS markers, they do use 68 cal. but, like I said, each mag/clip is limited compared to what we use on our current markers.
