I play a lot of woodsball but a new speedball course is being built by our local paintball store. I'd like to get into speedball but I don't know If I would like it. Should I get: Tippmann A-5 with E-grip and Empire Twister Barrel (great for woods, average for speedball) or Smart Parts Ion (apparently good for speedball, average for woodsball)
Plz reply b/c I need to know soon. Keep in mind that I play a lot of woodsball already but want to try speedball. Thanx |

the ion is still fairly new and any problems with its design have yet to be discovered. the a-5 is older and all problems with it are known. If you want to take a risk, then get the Ion, it could be great or a POS. While you should know what to expect from an A-5 |

I say wait till you play speedball before making you decision. If you like speedball then get the Ion. If you don't like speedball then get the A-5. You can still use the A-5 for speed but the Ion would be better for that; vice-versa for woods. Edited by SuzukiRider987 |

I think I'll go with SuzukiRider987, and try speedball first. But if their are any other upgrades, such as a better barrel, that you think I should get, then please post them.

What do you have now? And who says you need a new gun for playing speedball? I used to play speedball and woodsball with a CCI Phantom pump. If you really want an new gun I would go with the Ion but only after shooting one yourself to see how you like it.
