    Posted: 09 March 2005 at 5:41pm
I'd love an E-grip for my 98 custom... and what do you know, it came out.  However, the e-grip description clearly states that it cannot be installed on a 98 custom.  Will the Tippmann proshop retrofit it into my regular old custom, even though it is meant for a custom pro?

And no, I am not spending double for an e-bolt, so don't bother suggesting it.

It won't fit/work, so I suspect not.

Sorry dude, it pisses me off that they can make a new one for the new custom, but not the old one. So I am thinking about swaping out the old internals and put in the pro custom's internals. That way I can put in the new E-bolt. I hope it goes 15bps.

You could put it in yourself if you were good at milling.  It would take a lot of work to get it to fit and work.  I would just get an R/T.  Good luck.

listen up.  think, the custom pro/ 98c look identical on outsie, and both have the same rear cocking assembly right? so technically speaking it can probobaly be ghetto-rigged on, jus like i rigged the a-5 circle sight onto my 98c.. partly cuz i was bored, n' parly cuz it looks cool, but thats besides the point.  anyways, i think tippmann shuld die for leaving us old school 98c and model 98 ballaz out in the cold.  personally, when i get the cash, and finish my current project, i'll buy one, retro fit it, and tell ya how it works, if it does work.  **note i can do it faster if i can get a pic of the e-grip and a pic of the inside of the custom pro**
goin comando n' loven every minute of it.. i'm free, are you?

You would need a new sear, but maybe you could use the A-5 sear.

Then you would have to make, out of bondo or something, a place for the sear spring to go.

It could be done, but its just not practicle.

wow, total different sear assembly... they eliminated the removable pins too... This bothers me, I think it was a bad move by tippmann, they could have just released an e-grip for the 98c, the e-grip sells great on the A5... but no, we get a barely new custom pro (just new enough to screw us out of a custom part) and a silver a5.  I'm cheesed off.

If you'll notice, the grip seems to be designed around the ability to drop in the e-grip, the way the milling was done.  I have to say i also don't like the double trigger... how you cant use it as a single if you want to (because of the finger guard...).  But forgive my fuming, and thanks for the advice.

It wouldnt be very hard to fit one in a 98c. All you need is a good milling machine, and some skill. But it looks like the sear spring would get in the way of some of the electronics which is why the Custom Pro sear design is different. But you could easily just reposition the sear, or just make the new assembly.
