How come both of my Tippmanns (A5 and model 98)the paint is peeling off? I know I should repaint it, but why is this happening and how can I prevent this from happening again after it's repainted.
It don't matter if you win by an inch or by a mile. Winning's winning.

Shadow, It's not giving us permission to view. Paint gets chipped, water gets to aluminum, Aluminum powders, paint peels. Treat it just like a car when you repaint it. strip it, get all contaminants off, prime and paint with high quality auto enamel. I have also found getting rid of all the sharp edges helps with chipping alot.

This happens when you don't clean your gun or take good care of it.

There is no way around it, regardless on how much care has been done to avoid chipping paint...jus like what Liquid3 stated, treat it as if it was a car that is need of a new paintjob....grrrrr that reminds me, I gotta started savin up, I do need some serious body mods and a paintjob for my truck if I want it pictured in a magazine...

He didn't mention chipping paint, he mentioned peeling paint. Those are
two totally different problems.

Chipping or peeling...it really doesnt matter, repainting is still required.

Oil the paint, and keep oil on it when you store it. My buddies also use those armor-all wipe things.

I want to repaint my gun but I don't want to spend 100 or mess it up myself.

It doesn' t cost $100 to paint it if you want a professional job. Powder
coat for two reciever halves can be as low as $25-$30.
