Topic: J&J Ceramic vs SniperPosted: 19 March 2005 at 9:14am |

My son and I have recently been introduced to the world of paintball
and have decided to buy our own markers. I have decided on the 98C.
Most people recommend getting a better barrel as the first upgrade so I
figured I'ld save time and get the barrel when I get the marker. Now
for the question. Money IS an object here but I want the most bang for
my buck. I am looking at either a J&J ceramic or the Tippman sniper
barrel. Any opinions on which is the better value? We play exclusively
woodsball (no offense to you speedballers but it's not our cup of tea)
if that would change your opinion any. Thanks for the help.

The Tippmann sniper barrel(from what I hear) sucks. Ask anyone here and i bet that 80-90% say it sucks. I also know that people love the J+J Ceramic. I would say the J+J. I also will be buying it (whenever i get some extra change). I just haven't had the time to order it. Well good luck and happy paintballing. Remember to always play safe too.

^^that feature doesnt work as good as ppl hype it up to...in my opinion in using the j&j it was unaccurate...i recently bought a CP one-piece classic and i love it! its $45 and just as good as or better than any barrel out there! good luck! edit: for more reviews on products to see which one is the "best" go to www.pbreview.com Edited by Stiffler |

J&J.... the only prob I've had with it.. is that it doesnt like PMI
Premiums... but then again neither does my bro's Spyder E99 with
Progressive Barrel.
So maybe it was just the paint. But I have shot other paint through it like the Zap Torks and never had a problem with it until the Prems. The barrel does pretty much clean itself off.. after breaking a Prem.. I shot a few more times and it cleaned that up, however the porting is a PITA and wont get the paint out until you wash it out. |

Try marbalizer paintballs. Man those things are the best paint I ever shot. They are a lil costly, but If it only takes 1-3 shots instead of 8-12 to kill you prob end up saving a lil. Welcome to the forums. |

J and 's are great barrels They are a pretty cheap barrel with a lot of money value you pay for less than what you get. It is great, the tippmann sniper is not very good at all, it is inaccurate and is not a very well constructed barrel.

J and J and the bigshot are given good reviews. Bigshot from what I have seen has the best reviews.

Oold Squid , of the choices you listed , go with the J&J , I shoot a JT EXellerator .689" stainless back with a front that makes 14" total (roughly $100.00) , and it works well for speedball, or woods , anything longer will just rob you of performance ,or efficiency . My wife shoots a CP 14" one piece , and she likes it too , , so go with what your pocketbook , and consience dictate . the sniper barrel from tippmann , is just a longer version of the stock barrel . I would research Paint to Bore match , and decide from there what might suit you best . |

SL68-II , micro honed and polished .688" bore . Tuff Enuf .
Widowmaker , under construction |

first off. to get the paint out of the porting.COMPLETELY unload your marker take off hopper, leave your tank on and just cover the barrel up with your hand and fire off a few shots(not indoors it makes a mess). again COMPELETY UNLOAD YOUR MARKER and now for the ceramic its the first and only barrel i have bought for my 98c, i also have one for my osiris. they only self clean about 35-40% of the time though, but they will self clean. plus you can usually pick them up pretty cheap (mine was about $25) |
