The ion is alot better for the $ enless u want to be playing long distance wood ball alll day long. The ion come with a better barrel, and alot better trigger, also the extoskeleten is replacible. The A-5 is made of plastic were the ion, excluding the exoskeleton, the rest is alluminun. Also the ion can shot faster and more accurate, enless u by the flatline.. witch cost an extra 120$ and in close range makes the ball go slower and arce and is hard to clean. Both the guns are good and dont have to be fixed often, but id say go with ion.. i would buy it off ebay, i got mine off ebay for 220.. a 60 doller save. If you do get the A-5 u will spen hundreds on the barrel and responce trigger u might also want to get a new bored for it. this would still not be as good as the ion an not as expansive. Conclusion: get the ion or you will regret it. Thats my opion though. |

Well if you play mostly out in the woods then get the A-5 but if you play like with air bunkers then get the Ion.

Ion. It goes 2 bps faster. A t-board will some be out for
it making it 22 bps. (new solonoid) Its lighter, smalller,
more compact. less necesiry upgrades also.

Well, if you mainly play speedball then the ion might be better suited
for you but if you play mostly woods or a little of both then I think
the A5 is better. My reason for that is because the A5 can be a great
woods gun and a fairly decent speedball gun as well. Since you have so
many upgrade options with the A5, you can change it to meet your needs.
For example, I play both speedball and woodsball with my A5. When I
play speedball, I usually put my bigshot on. When I go into the woods,
then I'll usually put the flatline on for some extra range. You can do
some more extensive modding for the different play styles but I find my
setup to work great for both so I don't usually change the gun that
much. I plan on getting a folding stock for my A5 soon too so I can use
the stock in the woods and then fold it when I want to play speedball
so I can keep the gun close. The ion is good for speedball but you
can't mod it much so it's nothing special in the woods. You also need
to get a good hopper for it which will add another $100 or so if you
don't already have one. Being able to shoot 17 bps is nothing if you
can't feed that fast.

A-5 cuz i like how customizable it is, but the ION with a better stock barrel could be a major compedator (however you spell that) |

I don't really know much about the ion but my guess is that it will work on Co2. If you plan on shooting fast though, I'd highly recommend getting nitro. If you don't then the gun will freeze up on you and condensation doesn't go very well with electronics. If the gun runs on less than 800 psi (which is likely) then you should definitely use nitro instead. Most regulators aren't made to handle CO2 or just don't do it well so nitro would help you greatly if it's a low pressure gun. Nitro is better anyway so if you can, spend the extra money and get a nitro tank. |

I'll bet you, Timesplitter, that the Ions got more plastic than the A-5. But the choice of guns depends on what you're gonna do with it. Woodsball= A-5(needs upgrade to hit 15bps) Speedball= ion (17bps stock i think) |

I've never shot an Ion, but I've heard that they can be pretty finicky and tend to break down a lot. The A-5 is invincible and will take any amount of abuse you can give it. If it were me, I'd go A-5 because i put reliability ahead of bps. But, I'll concede, the Ion is definately a superior speedball gun.
