    Posted: 28 March 2005 at 7:39pm

I've still got a lot of work I want to do on this, but I'm out of funds till i start work again in a month or two.   The red dot is just a cheapo $20 thing that I picked up at Canadian Tire, I plan to get a better one with a 2x zoom when I get the funds.

Made the Mag kit myself.   It's made out of 2 pieces of angled metal I had lying around, and an airsoft mag I bought.

Made the shroud myself.   It has a home made RIS system, which is just plastic rails bolted to the shroud.   Hand guards are store bought.  Modified the stock fore grip to fit on to the bottom hand guard.   The shroud itself is shortened a few inches from the stock one.

Made the Tac cap myself.  Holds 40 rounds.

Most A5-M4's I see need that RIS riser mount in order to mount the M4 carry handle.   I modified mine to fit directly on the gun's sight mount.

Has an E grip.   I like to make my shots count, cause I don't like wasting money and paint is expensive, but the high ROF is sure welcome when I need it.   The full auto really helps it feel like a real M4 as well.

Guess that's about all I have to say.   Like I said, I have a lot more I plan to do on it, but this is how it's gonna stay until I have the money to do so.

What'cha think?

It's a tac cap.   Holds less rounds, but isn't as bulky.

I can't have the real hopper on there with the carrying handle and red dot, it won't fit.   I plan to make a mod that will offset the hopper slightly to the right, so I have a good clear sight picture looking down the red dot.   Should be a relatively easy mod to do, just don't have the materials yet.

Barrel  doesn't look too good,  but overall  nice  M4  look.  I would recomend taking off that cheap crossmen  optic off.  Maybe pick up a  40 mm  BSA  reddot from walmart,  then some clear see threw scope covers for the BSA  to  protect it a little better.  Thats  probably a 35  dollar upgrade from what you have there, you'll like it ten times over  that  crossman.  Probably not needed period but will add to the  M4 look.

Yeah, like I said I just bought the crappy red dot I have cause I was running short on funds.   Soon as I get some more cash I'll be getting a better red dot, and a remote line.

As far as the barrel looking funny... well it is an A5 flatline, so there isn't a whole lot I can do about that.

I've never seen anyone milsim an A5 shroud to have RIS and hand guards, so I thought it was pretty good.   There's plenty of milsim A5-M4's, but never seen one done well with a flatline.

I love it.  I like how you made most of it on your own...not too many people do that.  GREAT JOB.  It would be better if you got rid of the drop forward and got yourself a remote line though.

I like that alot it looks real good. Our local airsmith makes taller feednecks for the a5 cyclones so that people can put scopes on it, so I am sure you can do it. I love that you did it that well with a flatline, like you said most just buy stuff and with the flatline it looks bad. I hate the suppressor look of the a5 flatline anyways.

Thats a great job.

You should get this for your A5 to make it more like an M4/M16

dscf00212lk.jpg

Its an actual working magwell wit a mag release button that I bought from the Rap4.com (it came from their NEW T-68 markers) store here in Northern California....only costed me $40.

I've concidered buying a 98 flatline, and using the barrel for that (which is longer than the A5 flatline barrel) in the shroud I made.   That would lengthen the barrel, and I could mount a front sight.  Plus it has a flash supressor on the end that looks kinda similar to a real M4.

And I would love to get one of those mag kits with the mag well.   I agree, it would really make it look a lot better.

And of course, a remote line is going to be one of my next upgrades.

Thanks for the nice comments, and constructive criticism. :)   I'll post more pics as I update it with new things.

Actually you dont have to use the 98c Flatline barrel jus to add some length and to place a front sight on the barrel to complete the look....this is what the owner of the pbshop that "was" in business before he retired....he took his A5 Flatline shroud and cut off 1" from the front end of the shroud....the end result was awesome and he only did it to add the JCS bi-pod to his A5, you can apply the samething to your Flatline shroud and be able to put an M16 front sight and if you want a "flash suppressor" on the end of the barrel...to further give your A5 that M4 look.
