They say that food plays no part in the cause of acne but yet im always amazed how around candy related holidays, such as easter and halloween, the amount of pimples on peoples faces increases. I Smell a hershey payoff to the dermatologists!

Chocolate.

edit: I suppose I should clarify a bit...

Does Chocolate Cause Acne?

Eating chocolate does not cause acne. The only way for chocolate to cause acne would be to rub chocolate on the skin until it clogs the pores, causing a mechanical blockage of the pore openings. Then you could legitimately say that chocolate causes acne. Some studies in the past indicated perhaps that excess amounts of some iodine-containing foods, such as shellfish, could influence the severity of acne. This has been questioned by a number of other recent studies. Our recommendation is to eat, drink and be merry in moderation. Until these studies prove us wrong, we cannot say that chocolate causes acne.

Myth: Acne is related to diet
Reality: Does chocolate really make you breakout with acne? What about oily foods? Prevailing wisdom in the dermatology community is that diet and acne are not related. Of course science is never a 100% reliable enterprise. But at this time, there is no evidence that chocolate, sugar, oil, milk, seafood, or any other food causes acne. Some people absolutely insist that a certain food causes acne for them, or that a specific acne diet works for them. In this case, doctors sometimes recommend that they avoid that food or follow that diet. Regarding chocolate specifically, several studies have been performed, and the answer to "does chocolate cause pimples?" is a resounding "No".

Quote Q: Does chocolate cause acne (or make it worse)?A: No. And we'd like to dispel this myth once and for all! Several studies over the past three decades have failed to find a link between chocolate and acne. In a 1969 study by doctors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, 65 subjects with moderate acne ate either chocolate bars containing 10 times the amount of chocolate found in a typical bar or otherwise identical bars with no chocolate in them. Test subjects who consumed the excessive amount of chocolate for four weeks didn't show signs of increased acne.
