I was at home the other day chillin, and a buddy of mine called me from school on his cell phone. When I answered, I heard a strange radio transmission over his voice, it was like he was in the background of the conversation and this transmission was over him.

The more I listened to it, it was actually a military transmission. Alot of it was garbled, but I distinctly identified three words, "Confirm" "Airborn" and "Iraq" It was all very official sounding, just like in the movies....

I could barely hear my friend, and he didnt hear it at all, in fact, he thought I was drunk or moronic when I talked to him after that. It was just really strange.

Anyone else have cell phone interferance like that?

?

Maybe it was a tv or radio in the background. Or maybe it was them just playing a joke on you. Something like that did happen to me one time at work..well now where I use to work since I got fired. Someone called so I picked up the phone and it was really weird. It was like another world I heard all these people in the background and like your case I couldn't understand what they were saying because it was all garbled. It was just really weird.

I have heard of people intercepting a different call not intended for their cell phone.

My cell phone has been broke for at least 4 months. My service went kaput after the Cingular/AT&T merger and they havent fixed it yet so I am dropping the plan in Septmember.

Reb i think you should try and say something. If it can happen by accident, i think if someone is smart enough, it can be duplicated, this seems like a threat to national security if someone figured out how to do this consistantly.

No, it falls under the FCC rules part 15, I think. This device may not cause interference and must accept any and all interference even if it makes it not work. Also FCC bandwidth rules overlap on a lot of diff things. Our military also has a bunch of wide areas of bandwidth that overlap others. I used to live nextdoor to an airbase and we had all kinds of interference on lots of things and listened in on diff transmissions.

My walky-Talky picked up one of those direct connect/coast to coast
walky-talky conversations. At least that's what I think thats what it was,
because there was no static between when someone was talking and
when they stopped, like as if it was all in one transmission but with two
people.

Cell phones are the most unsecure mode of voice communication aside from general band walky talky's.

in fact, some boys from the EW department scanned and at any time could break into or sever any cell phone transmission in the whole city.

And the military is taught to always speak like someone bad is listening.

It's fun doing that stuff sometimes though.

You actually picked up the phone on your parents. Your mom was on the other phone in another room talking to your dad about their plans. Enjoy that thought.

It was his mom, but not his dad.

I don't get any interference, but my phone really sucks. Although since I got cingular after they merged with AT&T, it seems somewhat better.

I was using a cordless phone at my grandparents like a year ago, and when I pressed "talk" I heard two people talking. It was a man and a woman (I later asked my grandpa if he noticed the voice, and he said it was the neighbors) and they were talking about getting groceries.. and then they went into a conversation about one of their sons, and finally it went into a conversation that sounded very provacative and sexual.. I hung up when it got to that point.. because their neighbor is about 50-55.. I don't need to be hearing about a 55 year old's sex life. But I sat there for about 30-45 minutes listening to this conversation.. it was.. weird.. I was hopin they'd say something about bank account numbers or something valuable, but no such luck.. just errands and sex.

The Evil Thong Girl had something called "Motion Lotion"...it tasted pretty good, I ate the entire contents of the bottle thingy..-Hell's Oracle
