    Posted: 24 April 2005 at 8:31am

Hey all,

A friend of mine came to be with his Dragun TES in search of help. I decided to aid him, and now have a malfunctioning marker in my hands.

I've narrowed it down to an electrical problem considering that the marker is triggered by a solenoid driven sear. Whenever I turn it on, the LCD display shows me a single black line for a few seconds then goes clear. Usually, when it is working right it will show a dark black line and then say "Dragun Safety". I took apart the entire grip frame, resocketed all of the plugs and double-checked to make sure they are in the right locations. I solenoid works, I'm sure of that since by accident I triggered it by mistake (put the wrong plug into the wrong port). Since the battery wasn't connected, the capacitor must have had a charge in it so it must work as well.

Any assistance into my query would be greatly appreciated.

This happened to the same marker at my local shop. After trying anything they could to get it to work, it didnt work. It was like this Out of Box. Apparently they called and had it replaced.

I found out what the problem was, apparently Dragun didn't take in consideration that the LCD Display will not run off of a regular 9volt battery, but requires the power of 9.6volts to work.

This Dragun was pretty brand new too, saw about 2 days of play before it malfunctioned. Cheap VM-68 knockoffs.

That's why I still have my old original Black Dragun. It's taken a licking and keeps on ticking.
