I know I just asked about something else, but now that I know I didn't wreck the barrel, what's the best way to align the barrel to the receiver?  I'm eyeballing it, but I'm an idea guy, not a technical guy so this could be messy.

Just eyeball it.  Once it looks right, go out ant test fire a couple of paintballs, and if they go straight then your right on, if they curve to one side then your off a little bit.  Also the velocity and paint will greatly affect the performance of the flatline, so you will have to experiment with them too.  However once you are satisfied that your barrel is in the right position, put a dab of paint on the receiver and barrel so that when you install the barrel you only have to align the marks and you're set.
