I normally find the search function somewhat useful up until now.  Does anybody know what the operating pressure of the A-5 is stock?  I think I heard it's around 850psi, but I'm not sure.

Have you checked the manual?

The normal operating pressure for the 98c is 800 psi and I believe it's the same on the A5. Mine used to run at 800 psi but I have it running at 600 psi now with no problems.

you need a high out put tank. 800-850 psi is what tippmanns need.

I have 'misplaced' my manual during a move.  I apologize that I didn't make that distinction in my message.

So it goes without saying that if I get an HPA tank set higher than 850psi, I'll need a secondary regulator (like a Palmer Stabilizer) to tweak it down to the A-5's acceptable range.

Most of them are set between 800-850psi if they are high output.

If your thinking about getting a 4500psi tank or a 3000psi tank they still only have output pressures of around 850 psi for the High Pressure and 400psi for the low pressure.

REgulators only lower the psi.

But unless I am deeply mistaken an airsmith can change your tank's reg and go HP.  I would imagine it would cost a bundle though.

Yea you can change the tank regulators, some of the higher end systems you just have to replace a spring.
