Flatline is only barrel to add range. Search around, the exact same question is on this page.

Yeah try to shoot 1000 yards with your Flatline, "Sniper," and hide from all the gameplay. Don't forget the giant useless scope and rediculously unecessary stock. If I where you I would model my marker after a carbine/submachine gun for it to be most effective. Then it's a small target with good aimabilty. Accuracy has more to do with you, then your barrel. Don't be afraid to get hit, get in there and learn something. Seriously though... 285fps = 125-150 feet with a level shot and around 300 arcing it. The Flatline gets you a little more distance, but you won't be one shot one kill out there with it anyway, and you have to keep all the conditions proper for it. Almost all the aftermarker barrels are good in accuracy... Weight, sound signature, gas efficency (porting), length, true internal diameter, finish quality... are more the deciding factor. Remember a longer barrel uses more gas to get the ball to the same speed, but it is easier for you to aim (sight radius). A shorter barrel will be just as accurate but harder to aim. Think about where you play and try a couple different lengths if you can. Porting cost you gas but if your 98C breaks balls some of the paint may get cleaned out through the ports when you shoot through the break. Only the porting at the crown of the barrel increases accuracy. |

Ah yes ^ who says snipers "hide from all the gameplay."? That goes for all snipers I'd say. Try saying that to a real world military sniper. But, this is paintball so lets move it down to about 50 ft. Instead of 1,000. I'd recommend a st!ffi. |

It is an easily observed fact that people who want to shoot you from a distance in paintball are afraid of getting themselves shot. Or else they would use a more effective tactic. Real snipers are hiding behind enemy lines and doing recon... and have nothing to do with paintball whatsoever.

In paintball your more like a rifleman. I take long ball oppertunities... but you cannot rely on them to win you games. A real world sniper would agree with me. Hiding and blending into the battle field is what keeps them alive. Maybe if you let the enemy team walk past and only shot their captain from an undisclosed location... it just doesn't happen. Do a search on the forum and you will see that this debate has gone way longer then it needs to. We all use stealth, we all aim, we all select our targets... paintball "snipers" use distance as cover. A mostly useless tactic for making progress in a game. Maximum range of paintball gun = no sniper tactics. None of you PB "Snipers" have spotters either... no need. |

Nick we both know snipers aren't practical in paintball, but please refrain from starting another paintball sniper debate.

indeed, do we always have to do this everytime a new person talks about being a sniper? if it makes you so mad then go back to all the old posts and read them in anger if it makes you feel better |

Not mad, dissapointed. It took less time for me to put holes through it then for them to read the old posts. He does need a magic barrel, I'll just leave it at that. To anyone who things I fouled this thread, I'm sorry!

Get a Lapco Bigshot. They're an accurate barrel at a good price and it will serve you well no matter what your style of play is. As you can see by some of the other posts, the topic of "snipers in paintball" causes serious debate around here (hold yer fire there Nick... the poor kid's new. He's only got 8 posts!) Seriously though, you might want to re-consider your tactics a little bit. All Paintball guns (with the exception of those using flatline and Hop-up barrels) have essentially the same range. That makes any sniper style of play hard to pull off. If you stay at a range where you are relatively safe you will be ineffective. (If they can't hit you...you can't hit them) and if you're close enough to be effective, it's just going to turn into a full on fire-fight. Not, that there's anything wrong with practicing the art of the ambush, but good paintballers have to be ready do a little bit of everything. Hope that's some food for thought and welcome to the forums! Edited by Betterdays |
