I enjoy taking pictures of stuff. Mostly scenery, nature, the
occasional small animal. However, all I have is a puny 1.3 mp camera.
My parents have a 5.1, but I want this one to bring to college. Can
anyone suggest a good camera for a beginner? I'll provide more info if
I can.
PS: seb that other thread was a perfectly intelligent discussion. ![]() |

i made a thread abou this earlier. Sony Cybershot 4.0 megapixel...if you can get anything bigger then that would be better. But from what ive hear from friends and people on this forum if you're short on cash the 4.0 is the way to go. (i didn't mean for that to ryme.) |

i need to know more about what you want. Do you want something small and easy to slip into your pocket? Or does it matter. Cause i know you said you wanted it for scenery and as we all know, scenery doesn't normally move, so if you want really high quality cameras then thats something completly different. |

my mom has a mintola, its nice, but the only reason im getting a new one is because hers doesn't take snapshots, you have to click and hold down the button and with the stuff im taking pictures of i don't want to have to hold down the button for 5 secconds and follow the movement, it kinda ruins the whole point of "point and shoot". |

If I may, what kind of Minolta is it? Becuase mine can be set to turn off Auto-Focus so it is point and shoot, also it can use rapid-fire modes... |

Get a good quality film based SLR. I have a rather old one, but I love it. I prefer having to manually adjust the stops and shutter speeds, but Id like a camera that has the option to automatically do it. My dad has a newer Canon that does it, rather nice. I highly recommend film based SLR's. |

Exactly what I'm looking for. Minus the school part. Editing, not so much either. Basically, just the uploading... |
