Alright here we go. When I was using Co2 wtih my A5 I was able to adjust the velocity up to around 300 f/s. Since I have upgraded to compressed air (dye 91/4500) I can't seem to get the velocity passed 260. The only thing I can think of that would inhibit this would be the drop forward in use with the plastic line instead of the steel braided stock piece.. It doesn't have a secondary reg, no internal parts have been modified. It is basically a stock A5 with a drop forward flex line and compressed air.... Any help????
Thanks in advance.. |

Regulator may help. Thats all I know, someone else should be able to help you.

Think and give them all you have from the beginning, and never weaken!

if you are having trouble with low velosity, you can try a few things, first get the madman spring kit they can be found here
at hotshotpaintball.com. they will give you three new drive spring all
at different tensions that start stiffer than the stock one. the
stiffer the spring, the more velosity. the red tip spring it the
stiffest.
the other thing you can do, and you might want to try it first is toputt a bb into the end cap of stock. if take off the endcap, or stock, or RVA, which ever you have, there will be a small hole where the drive spring goes into. just put a bb in there and that will make the spring that much more stiff when the gun cocks. if the bb doens't solve the problem, then go with the springs, they are only 10 bucks. you will also get trigger and sear springs that will lighten the trigger pull drastically. they are a good item to get anyways. hope that hepls you |

I have heard numerous accounts of similar problems with DYE tanks. My theory is they have a lower output pressure than most HP tanks. It might be the mid to high 700psi instead of over 800psi. I have noticed that people do have problems with velocity and RTs with DYE tanks. A spring kit or RVA will help a lot. |

Thanks for the tips.. I did have the Dye tank pressure tested it tested at 850psi. I'll give the bb a shot, but I am still confused as to why I can't adjust the velocity past 264 pfs.

Just to update you. I talked with the paintball shop they told me that co2 can have a higher output pressure than compressed air at times depending on several different factors, temp outside, how you screw in your bottle when you crono (fresh fill/room temp charge), whether or not you use northern toilet paper or your hand. Scratch that last one. Any way some end caps have a deeper reccess where the pin and spring sit than others this is especially true on the adjustable stocks like I have. I could only fit two bb's in mine. I haven't cronoed it yet but seems to be shoot alot faster over 300 now. Thanks for the tips guys. hope this helps some one else as well.

i only used 1 BB, but if you need two to get the velosity into the
proper range and the drive spring and drive spring pin are still
sitting propperly, then i'd say its ok. glad we could help.

I've seen guys break the valve with too heavy of springs so be careful not to increase the tension any more than you have to.

tigman250 is right. also know that the added pressure will put more
wear and tear on your drive spring. it will wear out faster causing you
velosity to drop. i don't know how old you A-5 is now, but if its got a
coupple years in it then that may have been why the velosity was so low
to begin with. i would reccomend buying a Madman spring kit from
hotshotpaintball.com. its only 10 bucks plus shipping (not much at all)
they are in the east coast. i usually get packages within 4 days from
them and i'm in chicagoland. you might be able to use their red spring
and get the job done. or the blue one with a bb. (they have three
springs, green - lightest, blue - medium, red - heaviest. plus you will
eventually have to get them once the bb's wears the drive spring out to
the point where velosity it too low.
point being, just get the springs. |
