Me and my friend were talking about this one day and we came to the conclusion that he is extremely lucky.  As a director he does nothing but make child like violent suggestions but some how comes out with some of the best, and some of the most over rated movies out there.

what do you think

Since I have been said to sometimes look like the guy and his movies greatly entertain me even without the hype hollywood gives him, I like him and his movies. Same with Kevin Smith, execpt I dont look like him.

No. Tarantino has a lot of talent. His dialogue, his set-ups, the great timing...everything. There were people before him who made just "child like violent suggestions" who didn't succeed, and there were people after him who made the same types of films with the same results. I'm thinking that shoots your idea down, but if you've any other discrediting reasons, please let me know.

Never really thought about. I'm not a huge fan of his movies. He does do a good job in dialogue, set-ups, and timing as newport said..

Exactly Lawless.

I don't think theres much luck in his success at all. His direction appeals to a certain audience, not all viewers. The way he does things borders on brilliant.

"Child like violence" is something of a silly term.

His style of direction is unique, with several people attempting to come near to the mark, but falling short. Has there ever been a set of movies  exactly like Kill Bill? No.

If you look at modern horror films, they're all so boring, redundant and predictable. Terrantino's films are vastly different than other directors' work.

He did more then Kill Bill! Someone should list the movies... I don't know them all, but a few.

I think he has a great style... you can tell it's one of his movies by watching it, without knowing before hand.

I like his humor, and think he is very talented.

Lucky? Luck is when preparedness meets oppertunity, so I would say he is lucky.

Think and give them all you have from the beginning, and never weaken!

A little of both.

Ive watched some of the stuff that people called brilliant and all that in Resivoir Dogs....then the same thing again in Pulp Fiction....then in Jackie Brown (Which BTW, not to sound like one of the people that always say this, but the book > the movie. Elmore Lenord trocks)

As a director I think hes good. He knows how to shoot visiually exciting stuff. He knows how to film well.

Writing on the other hand...ehhh.....The only thing on writing I will say I really liked was True Romance, which was awsome, but of course he didnt direct it, only wrote it...

He worked in a video store for a good amount of time, and watched pretty much every video they had. He just takes inspiration and cool stuff from a bunch of movies and throws it into what he makes.

The things I like about his movies are, awesome character development, and the way that violence usually is comical or just not a big deal. And Harvey Keitel of course.

I think the best film that he just wrote was Natural Born Killers. My only dislike is that Oliver Stone turned it into a shrooms + acid trip rollercoaster thing.

Kevin Smith is another story, his films might just be luck, but I like them anyways. He's already proven that him venturing out of his "New Jersey Trilogy" genre ends up badly.

I think he's going bald.

But if he gets to work with hot stars then he's doing something right.......

EDIT: White o Light, you've been here for 2 days and you already have a strike?
