I know what the difference is in how these work but wich one is better,
and why? Also can you put both in one gun or not and why?

The E-Grip is an electronic sear tripper, meaning that you are making an electric switch contact to activate a solenoid to trip the sear...the trigger is no longer directly mechanically connected to the sear. The electronic circuit board in the grip allows firing modes ranging from semi-auto up to full auto. Velocity of the ball is still controlled by the Allen screw in gas tube.

The E-Bolt replaces the hammer(rear bolt) in the marker with a pneumatic ram controlled by an electronic circuit board in the grip similar to the one used in the E-Grip...but operating a micro-valve, mounted on the board, feeding the gas pressure to the ram. Dwell time and force of impact of the ram, on the pin valve, controls ball velocity...settings you control on the board and on the low pressure regulator in the ASA supplied with the kit. Since the hammer blow-back is no longer needed, you may find that you can reduce operating pressure in the marker, saving gas and reducing movement of the marker. The trigger now activates an electronic micro-switch, just like the E-Grip.

The E-Bolt also will also reduce the amount of mass moving back and forth in the marker because it replaces the heavy hammer...less shake and movement of the marker.

Both systems produce roughly the same operating results and both greatly improve the operation of the marker. To reduce operating pressure with the E-Grip you'll have to then buy the Low Pressure Kit.

The two kits, E-Grip and E-Bolt, do things differently and there is no desirable combination of the two systems.

They have been discontinued by Tippmann, for what reason I connot understand, but are still available through several paintball stores on line.

Not many people wanted to spend $230+ on an upgrade for a marker that cost them $130 in the first place.

If Tippman has discontinued the e-bolt why thendo they still advertise it
on there site? Any one know. Sounds like e-bolt is better but a litle over
priced.

Tippmann has just not updated their website.

The price is rather high, but it makes a very significant change in the marker...it literally becomes a different gun. I have several barrels for the 98C that I like. If I'd originally bought a higher priced marker I would not have the performance of the one I have now. Amount of money spent at this point is about $450= marker and E-Bolt. The Halo B now now needed to keep up with the firing rate adds about another $110.

If I'd bought an Auto Cocker Super Stock at this level of competitiveness I would have spent, with a Halo B, about $700+.

With the 98C I started out with a good marker at my level of play. As I got better I could make the marker better at considerably less lump sum expenditure. At this point between my son's set up and mine we are running two 98Cs with E-bolts, both with Halo Bs, with choices of several barrels; Stone Cold II, Flatline, and Hammerhead. These are barrels I'd have likely bought for the Cocker.

Certainly you could cast aside the 98C and start over, for a lot more money, but we like what we have created now, and easily stay on the speedball course with the advanced guys.

Here, they call it the 98 electronic kit, but it is the E-Bolt.

OK, there is a start. Took me 5 minutes to find those through Google. Some may be out of stock. A few phone calls will tell you if they have them or not. I have talked to some who tell me they have them on the shelf. Now if you really want one...go get it! Average price seems to be running about $229-$239.
