ok, i got a new a-5 2 months ago. i love it, except for one problem, i'm getting about 500 shots with a 20oz co2 tank. i figured maybe an expansion chamber would help, so i know have one on it. this is really pissing me off because i'm still getting about 500 shots off. should i use comp. air? what should i do? any sugjestions would be nice. thanks |

well, something wrong if you're only getting 500. i was pulling about
800 with just strait Co2 and not much time to expand. try the x-chamber
or remote. palmer will increase it also. i'm up to 1200 now with a
remote and palmer stabalizer. i am about to go low pressure so that
will help more.
whats your setup and how is you Co2 ran? is it all stock? |

well, you shouldn't be getting that low of a shot count espically with an expansion chamber.
you might want to check all you conections for a small, pin hole leak that you cannont hear. check all the fitting before and after the hose, check th ASA, check the x-chamber the FVA and the barrel and tombstone. do a leak check on it. soap and water mix, then apply with a cotton ball over the entire area, go all the way around each part that air flows through at the connection points. look for small bubbles. let me know if you absoutly for sure don't have a leak. |

An expansion chamber wont do much if your sipohong strait liquid and firing. It works when you suck up liquid and dont shoot for a few seconds. But if your really ripping with it, it wont do much. Did you notice if you were pointing your gun down a lot? Has this happened before? Or just once? |

I'm not an a5 guy but I've heard that an RVA does wonders for some for efficiency. a5 shot counts seem to vary alot from gun to gun out of the box.

Wow. Now, could you please explain how it is that I get 450 shots from a 9oz bottle and 1100 from 20oz with a stock A5? Both the M98 and the A5 use a large volume of air per shot, but not three times as much as other markers. Tippmann markers adjust velocity by altering airflow while still using the same volume of air for each shot. An RVA will alter the volume of air going into the marker allowing less air per shot. It could be that your drive spring is simply too stiff. One of the guys on my team had a bent drivespring pin, causing the drivespring to bind up, next thing he knew he was getting only about 600 shots instead of the usual 1000 out of a 20oz. Also, A5's tend to shoot fast using more liquid CO2 and crippling your air efficiancy.

ya I only get about 750 shots. I got and idea What's your altitude. That could affect it a little but not 300 shots worth maybe 100 because the tank is hard.

I also had major issues with that when I first got my A-5. I burned through a tank before I used up the extra paint from the first pod refill. Unfortunately that was 2 years ago and I cannot remember exactly what I did to fix the problem (I know, big help). But I do know I did not send it in or take it to a Proshop. I am pretty sure I just took it all apart, cleaned it out and put it back together right (which I may have screwed up the time before). I also experimented with the Madman Spring Kit (which is currently VERY difficult to find). I believe I also played around with the VAS (and a velocity regulator). I would suggest that a RVA could help a little, just as my spring kit did. However, it is also possible that you have an incorrectly installed anti-siphon tank and are drawing liquid. This is not a terrible thing but does decrease efficiency a little bit. Unlike electro-markers, it will not damage the A-5. Tippmanns are built pretty tough to take years of abuse. In that I know, my next newest marker to my A-5 is a 68-Special and those haven't even been made for over 10 years - and all 6 I own run great. |

doesnt it say in the specs that it takes 250+ shots wit a 9 oz tank so if u times that by two u get 500+ shots with 18 oz and if u add 2 more oz u get 555+ shots i did the math so if u want to check it go ahead 9 oz= 250+ shots 20 oz= 555+ shots Thats a stock a-5 Edited by flameboy_2089 |
