My rig is a 98c with a colapsable stock and flatline barrel. I have a problem. Contrary to what most of you might be thinking at this point it isn't the accuracy of the flatline barrel itself that is my problem. My barrel shoots very straight and far pretty consistently. The problem is that I also have a red dot sight that i want to attach to my gun for better "first shot" accuracy. My problem is that once i attach the sight to the sightrail the hopper is in the way. only by about a half inch, but enough to make it unusable. If anyone has any suggestions i'd appreciate it.

My gun is beat to hell...scratched up, paint's comin off, but it's the best damn gun in the world because it's mine

i think their are sight rails that arent directly center and can be put on a angle.  I think they are called offsight ite rails or something like that.  Just look around the internet.

i can check in town here, there's a guy who does customization. He had suggested earlier to get an elbow to go in the elbow i already have to make the hopper a little higher, but it would make my hopper like half a foot higher than my gun and would just look stupid

Ok, so if i can really attach this thing to my flatline, then where can i find one online. I've done some looking and have found some offset sight rails, but i wasn't sure they would fit on my flatline shroud. All of them say 7/8" accessory rail and 3/8" dovetail. Is this going to work or not?

yes, i can see that there are many offset rails that work on the a-5, but my problem is i have a 98c and the barrel shroud changes the size of the sight rail on the gun. I just need to know if these offset rails will work on the barrel shroud. The shroud appears to be about 1/2" as opposed to the standard 7/8

If you have a stock gravity hopper or a Revi just bend it like this. http://www.airgun.com/downloads/hopper_modifications.pdf

Obviously you will have to move where you squish it but that should work.

well the flatline for the 98c is plastic you could prabaly just cut a notch in it to make it fit, the shroud is only cosmetic any way.

Couple of solutions. If you are clamping directly to the top of the marker dovetail move the Red Dot sight far forward till it is just behind the hopper. Though the hopper will still block part of the view through the sight I have found that usable. Wait, let me amend that. the first hopper I had on the 98C had a short neck so the body of the hopper blocked a significant part of the field of view. I bought another later with an inch longer neck and provided a more than adequate field of view. So you may need a hopper that stands up a little higher.

Another solution is the Lapco sight mount. It clamps into the dovetail on the top of the receiver and provides an offset scope mounting position that is to the left and tilted down from the top of the receiver. Take a look at it:

http://www.redcellpaintball.com/Lapco-Offset-Sight-Rail-P283 C150.aspx

The plastic shroud on the Flatline has the dovetail grooves in the top that allow the Lapco to clamp in place, just like on the top of the receiver.
