Yeah, i bought my 68/4500 tank a while agon and noticed that by the plug that lets in the air the teflon tape is like bubbling, letting out air verry slowly.  like 500psi in three days.  So what i am thinking of doing is emptying the tank, unscrewing that and retaping it.  How would i go about doing this?

I let a local shop repair that,so you don't run into greater problems.

I wouldn't mess with it. Let an airsmith do it.
