Pro/Carbine Velocity problem

   (Hello, if this is a re-post pls forgive me.  I've searched on the
forums for an hour now and haven't found anything pertaining to my
problem.)

    I have a Tippmann Pro/Carbine I bought in
8/1999.  I'm having a velocity problem with my gun.  Runs on
the standard Co2 and has a 16" Armson stealth barrel.  (Yah yah,
long gun, blah blah, I happen to like it.)  My buddies and I
mostly just went out in the desert and played so they were cool with it
being a bit hot as we were usually at a bit longer distances than
organized play.  Well, I can never get it turned down
enough.  I have my adjustment screw all the way in and it comes in
@ 305fps almost everytime and all the way out puts it @ 350+...
ouch.  Well the indoor range close to my house I'm starting to
play at needs to be 260fps or below, speedball range... yuck, still fun
though.  Any tips as to how I might get the speed down more. 
I had a friend cut the internal spring on it a long long time ago
(which spring?) and it seemed to help because @ one time the thing was
shooting @400fps.  Not good.  Maybe I need to cut the spring
a lil bit more?  Does anyone here have an older Pro/Carbine that
could tell me step by step how to do this?  The guys in the
proshop just looked at me funny and had no idea because it was such an
old gun.  I'm not going to buy a new one, just don't want to have
to use the rentals if yah know what I mean.  If anyone out there
is of the old school and has an "archaic" Pro/Carbine like mine...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! Let me know.  Thank you much...

	Yeah i had to do it to mine for speedball too. Unscrew the rear end cap and cut one or two rungs of the the spring that goes into the end cap. I bought a spare so i can have one for speedball and one for woods. now i just use my Mag for speed ball but the carbine worked well and actually was the last to see a speed ball game when i had trouble getting my level 10 in my mag installed( now i just gave up and want to sell the dang level 10 at last the level 7 dont leak).

	Yeah thats the one. problem is the carbine is not very adjustable so your likly to NOT be able o get it up to 300fps once ya get er down to 250fps. Thats why i got two of em.

	You can buy a Madman Spring Kit for it. The kit comes with 3 drive springs for low medium and higher velocity. It also has a lighter trigger and sear spring however Tippmann advises against changing the sear spring and I agree. You can get it here http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item= 1166. The spring kit is actually for the Model 98, but it works for the Pro-Carbine. (At least it did for me). You can always tweak the velocity by clipping the drive spring one coil at a time and checking w/ a chrono.
