well, if you break in a game, without a quick change setup, you can't
use one. and even with a quick change setup, its still a task.
best chance is to use a battle swab and shove it down the barrel end and hope that the break was somewhere near the end of the barrel. it could be a pain depending on the situation |

a battle swab unfolded should be able to reach all the way down the inside of either flatline

I have heard that you could shoot a cotton ball soaked in alcohol through the barrel, don't know if it will work well or not.

I have a 98C. To clear broken balls I drop the elbow and pour a little water straight into the open breach. (makes it work better but it will work without) I use a flex pull squeege and push it into the breach then I hold the end and shoot (Shooting the gun makes it clean up much better and quicker and hold the end of it tight or you may never see it again.) I dry fire a couple of times to remove any excess water. Finally I reconnect the elbow and shoot a few rounds to see if I got it all. (I don't take the hopper off I just keep it upside down so the balls stay in). (if there is a selection of pull squeeges get the biggest diameter available) |

I could fix it, if only I had a bigger hammer

My A-5 Flatline came with a nice extra-wide pull-through that I use between games. For in-game cleaning, the ol' battle swab.

When I sent my first Flatline back to get it refurbished (fresh bead blasting on the inside) Tippmann returned it with a pull through squeegee that works like a charm. Lay the hopper to the side and the squeegee will feed into the ball port and pulls through easily. The type of squeegee that has the mop swab as the last element on the end will not make the turn through the ball port into the barrel. Many of the standard squeegees that would work have too short a cable to feed through the length of the barrel on the 98C. Problem with the swab cleaner that you shove down the muzzle is that it pushes the paint and ball fragments back into the ball chamber. |
