    Posted: 17 August 2005 at 1:34pm
My birthday is in late Setember, and I see it as a time where I can FINALLY get a new marker and replace my A-5.

I was pretty well set on the Ion, but I just recently started looking into the Promaster, and needless to say it looks VERY apealing.

I know tons about the Ion, so I don't really have any questions about it.

But there are a few things about the Promaster that I want to know.  What kind of eyes does it have, break-beam or reflective?  It looks alot lot like a Timmy, can I use like timmy internal upgrades on it? I've read everywhere about all these firing modes that it has, but that's all it ever says is "multiple firing modes," never what the modes are, so what are they?

I'm gonna e-mail ICD with these and some more questions and go to a couple proshops and try to check one out in person.

Thanks for any help.

The promaster has PDS. PDS is breakbeam eyes i beilve.

I think that the promaster is better then the ion. I have seen the ion do weird thing. While i have yet to see/shoot a promaster, I like ICD and know that they put out quility stuff.

Right now I would have to say go for the Promaster. Read some more reviews though when it gets closer to your b-day (once moe people start getting them).

Promaster.

I'd say nay on the Timmy upgrades. If you go to icd's website, download the Promaster manual. It will enlighten you about the modes, at the least.

Yeah, the reason I ask so early is that my parents want a list, and since a marker will be like all I'm getting, they want to know early.  They need to tell all my relative's not to send me money, but to send it to them, so it can be like an entire family present.

Also I am now kinda leaning toward the Promaster because there are too many people with Ions and I have not read a bad review about it.

EDIT:  All I now have to say about the Promaster is HOLY.... It is incredibly fast. I've still got to go to my proshop and see if I can check one out, but I have seen some AMAZING vids.  There's not much that could turn me away from the Promaster now.

Promaster, another good thing is not everyone will own it.  I'd wait a little bit until all of the colors come out.  The price for it now is about $390.
