Is a x-chamber useable w/ a nitrous tank?
Should I get a regulator before getting a nitrous tank? What kind of tank, size, etc? Is it worth buying used one?? Thanks for your replies. Edited by tsheran |

An expansion chamber can be used with nitro but it wouldn't do any good. The expansion chamber's purpose is to give co2 time to expand into a gas. Since HPA is already a gas, it wouldn't do a thing. A regulator is a very good upgrade. It isn't necissary though, for you to run HPA. The standered size is 68/4500. That will get you about the same amount of shots as a 20 ounce co2 tank. They are pretty expensive though, about $200 for a nice tank. If you do get a used tank, you will have to rehydro it in a few years. Tanks have to be hydrotested every 5 years. It will cost about $30 to get it tested. Take this into consideration when buying tanks. Hope any of this helped. Edited by rossy11223 |

Look on Ebay for used tanks. There are some great prices on there. I got my 88/4500 for $120 (even though it had a broken gauge - PMI gave me a new one for free though
 ).

First it's not nitrous. That's short for nitrogen oxide, the stuff used by drag racers to increase their speed. It's nitrogen or nitro for short (or compressed air, or HPA/high pressure air). Pure nitrogen is inert and non-flammable, but hard to find and expensive. Most places use plain compressed air (but to a high pressure), hopefully filtered to remove the water from it so your tanks reg doesn't corrode.
Second, I don't know for sure, because I don't know of any real testing that's been done... but some people say that an expansion chamber could cause some problems by being restrictive to the air flow. Makes sense, the more bends, or twists air has to flow, the more it can get restricted, especially if it's not smooth. Wouldn't make a difference I don't think unless you were firing very quickly though. It depends on the design of the x-chamber too. |

Ah ah, the gas used by racers is (are?)
