ok, I never contribute ideas, ialways shoot them down. So lets see how I do here.
How about a mask with a flip down lens. Have a normal clear lens on the mask, but then a flip down cover thats tinted. Kind of like those sunglsses that flip up. That way you can easily make a transition from a brightly lit open field, to a wooded area. Or if anyone remembers what they are, you could put goggle skinz on the top lens. |

What . . . the . . . ? Anyways it sounds like a good idea. Idealy it would be something like the transisition lenses that automatically changes for you but the problem is the cost and protecting the changing part of the lens. This thread is like a breath of fresh air |

Munky: thats what transition lenses are. The problem you could come
across is the cost. I'm also not sure if you can do that with a plastic
lens. As far as I know, its only glass. The glass would have to be
somewhat thicker than a lens to stand up to 300 fps shots, then you
have the issue of glass near the eyes. Tempered or not you still get
little slivers from a break.

why not just have a normal or thermal lense and just use youre visor for sun protection Isn't that a lot easier, plus if you could make a practical one which is strong and well visible then i suppose that the mask manufacturing companies would of already made it |

Idealy it would be something like the transisition lenses that automatically changes for you but the problem is the cost and protecting the changing part of the lens. ya transition lense would be good but i know the transition lenses for my glassed cost about 200 bucks, imagine something as large a mask lens. i would definatly be interested in a highend mask with a prescription lens though, perhaps thing like this will happen in the future when the kind orf lens they use are more scrath resistant. |

The guy your idea sounds neat. I think that it would be cool to have one that would slide up into the visor so that you wouldn't run the risk of it getting damaged. |

would it work if you had transition lenses inside a coating of the plastic? if you have enough of both it wouldn't break and it should have enough to work through the plastic exterior.
