Ehhh. I'm gonna have to say the Apex. It has the capabilities of the Flatline and more.

Flatline.

In the time it takes to sit there and adjust the Apex you could have already made the shot with the flatline.

Then don't adjust it.  You can use the Apex just like a Flatline if you choose.  But you also have the OPTION of adjusting if you like.

The Apex does everything the Flatline does and more.

If you will do an "Apex" search on all Tippmann forums you will find about 13 subjects about the barrel. Somewhere in that is a link to a demo showing a rather awesome performance. Also, you can read about it at: http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/3894/

The barrel works with any decent paint, no need for high priced PMI. It can be instantly adjusted to up, down, right or left curves, It will shoot like a Flatline or like a regular barrel. It is available all over the web, 888paintball.com for one, for $119.

^^^ Me too.  The demonstration video is impressive, but they really are not the same.  No matter how you have it set, the Apex shoots weird.... weird in a way that could beneficial in many cases, but weird in a way that would irritate the crap out of me.  The long straight shot running more or less parallel to the ground is not possible with the Apex, and is the main stay of the Flatline... to me the flatty is the wayt to go, which is a safe opinion in my case having already installed it.  It would be cool to play around with one, but I would not want to live with it day in and day out, that I'm sure of.  Frankly, the potential advantage for the shots that wrap around bunkers, is almost cheating to me.

I do not understand where you are getting your info. Even following the link you provided you see right on the instructions, as you progress through the feature windows, that you can adjust not only the direction of spin but the amount of spin...allowing you to tailor the barrel to duplicate the Flatline performance.

i was at TWC this week end and i talked to several a5 org. members that
were selling there flatlines and buying the apex. they said they couldn't get within range to shoot back at the guys with an apex. like any game you have people long balling, but some of those guy's where shooting quite accurately a good range. i don't shoot either, so i'm just going by what i saw and heard

I would prefer the flatline, but I would recommend you try out both and decide for yourself. It really is all personnal opinion.

Ill stick with my flatty, want to know why?

1.all the rumors about how its hard to clean and what not are not true, and for paint draxxus works perfect (only broke one ball in a year) so it truly performs well.

2.its sexy looking

3.ive already paid for it and sure as hell am not going to fork out another $100 dollars

4.honestly for woods ball its better because if your trying to use the apex to make a curve shot, its not gonna work becuase you hit one twig and BAM your paintball explodes, you'd have to be one lucky person or just great at geomerty to curve through brush, straight is were its at..

5.its sexy looking

I'm so-so on the Apex. The "flatline effect" thing on the apex looks cheesy to me... I saw a video of a guy doing that and after a certian distance the paintballs would start swerving everywhere. I guess that could've been bad paint. I like the flatline better I think, but the Apex has a huge advantage in going around obstacles. Just depends on what you want.
