I was just wondering how many of you are in the service? If so, what branch? I haven't signed the papers yet, but I'm taking the first step. I'm joining Air Force ROTC. I will sign the enlistment papers in my junior year in college.

NASA and the Americans spent millions of dollars and hundreds of hours to develop a pen that would write in space.....The Russians used a pencil.

Cedric is too righteous to do anything but be emo.
Anyways, I'm currently waiting for the Queen's York Rangers to get back to me on my application, they said it would be a few weeks, so I haven't been rejected yet , hopefully they'll accept my application and call me in for testing soon, I would like to make it for the course starting at the end of October.Edited by SuperXero |

Getting ready to take the ASVAB test next wednesday. After that,
consulting with all 4 major branches as per possible jobs in each
branch. Then joining up in the DEP (Delayed Entry Program). Most likely
I will be in either the Army or Marine Corps. Hoping to drive a tank,
thatd be fun. If the Marines dont let me do that, Ill be joining the
Army Corps of Engineers and going for a degree in engineering.

I don't believe I mentioned it, but it's for the reserves, not the regulars. It's the first step towards a military career for me. Canada is often jested as having a couple guys with water gun's for an army, but I've come to think that Americans believe this is true. While our military is relatively small, aprx 60,000-80,000 members I believe, and definately lacking in funding, our soldiers have proved themselves time and time again. The funding is terrible from the little of the military I've seen. on an aprx 15 billion dollar budget, there leaves much to be desired. For example, the Aurora Armories, home of the Aurora unit of the QYR, is a tiny building, predating WWII, situated right next to a children's park that looks like it cost more than the armories. It is basically one open room surrounded by smaller rooms serving as offices, on all sides but 1. On this one remaining side is a double garage door leading to the street. The main room is barely big enough for the 20-30 soldiers who were drilling in the area, another school bus full of soldiers were being driven an hour's trip away to Fort York to train and drill. The building is so small that, right next to where the troops were standing, next to a pile of books and folders, was the secretary, sitting at her desk with a computer. She looked extremely awkward, sitting in the middle of a room, not even seperated from the dozens of soldiers drilling, literally feet from her. |

No matter what the Marine Corps. Says you can and cant do you will still be a Marine. There is no greater pride then becoming a United States Marine. The best of the best. I wouldnt choose anyhting else. Thats my two cents. |

My older brother and bf are in the army. I have a few good friends that are in the marines. I've always liked airplanes, though.

Christ, for once, just shut up. I'm sorry but I've taken all I can from you. He believes it to be one of the greatest honours, and as do I. I certainly don't think homosexuality is anything to be proud of (obviously something we disagree on) but you don't see me flaunting it every chance I get. |

Chill, dude - seriously. I'm not criticizing Kristofer - he is welcome to have his priorities any way he likes. I was simply expressing my honest astonishment/surprise, in a non-critical fashion, that he apparently puts the USMC on the top of the pyramid of personal pride (/gratuitous alliteration). |

Personally, I think that if you make it through marine basic, that is a great accomplishment. It takes alot to be a marine. |
