this might be a stupid question, but i cant find out the difference between the 98 and a5. i know the a5 has the cyclone and its easier to field strip, but is there really any performance difference between them? |

its all about preference, a5 good woodz gun, 98C good woodz and speed gun, i think the 98 shoots better and isnt so much of a gas hog as the A5 and also the 98c can shoot way faster"with a few mods and upgrades". The A5 is or can be fast but is limited by cyclone. Go to your pro shop and ask if you shoot both chose the one you like better

A-5 completely owns the 98c out of the box. It has so much stock that
would cost more money to put on a 98c. It also has stock things that
you cant get for the 98c!
Get the A-5, you wont be disappointed. Edited by You Wont See Me |

Edit: I posted this a few threads down under Woodsball. I've been playing on and off for about 7 years, and I've used just about anything from the original sheridan markers to a buddies Ego(too rich for my blood). Ok, here we go. I have both the A-5 and 98C and I have upgraded them pretty far all in the name of woodsball. Here's what I've come up with so far. 98C- R/T, Flatline, Pro-team CAR stock, Richochet Ak hopper. A-5 E-grip, Flatline, BT Folding stock. In shooting and comparing both, the 98c flatline has more distance, depending on the paint of course. It may not feed as fast, or dissassemble quite as fast(but almost), but an upgraded 98c is not something to be taken lightly. That being said, I can not only pick my shots with the A-5, but I can sling paint with the best of them without worrying about misfeeds from the stock cyclone. Now I'm not discounting the R/T, in fact some on this very forum have tuned it higher than any E-grip, though to keep up with that rate of fire you'll need to spend upwards of $100 on a nice E-hopper. Also the folding stock transforms the A-5 from battle rifle to CQB MP-5 lookalike. When all is said and done, the 98c has the range and enough upgradeability to delight woodsballers old and new. The A-5 has a wide variety of upgrades available, and third party companies delight in delivering new and seemingly impossible not to have accessories, not to mention that it looks way cool. Either way, you'll be getting a quality gun that has the ability to grow with your experience, and a Tippmann guarantee to back up the product. Hope I helped out with your and anybody else's decison. Thanks, Sgt CJ |

I've never had a problem with my 98c. It's all preference. Try them both out before you decide. |

^^^ You are correct. I think it is in the "What Gun is Best" at the top of this page. I think it all depends on the person who uses the gun and what you will be using it for. Take your pick. They are both great guns.

They both are great, and both have their advantages/disadvantages. The
98 is definetly more of a speedball gun, and the A-5 is definetly more
of a woodsball gun.
Now, I play front position in speedball. My 98 is nice for this job, as it's light(er) and more compact than an A-5. I played with an A-5 once, and I found it to be very heavy and awkward compared to my 98 when playing up front (different people will have different experiences of course). Also, the 98 is faster than the A-5. The A-5 is limited by its cyclone to around 17bps or so, otherwise it's a blender. People have gotten their 98's around 22/23 bps. In terms of upgrading, they're pretty much the same, with no one gun having more significant ups than the other. |

That is not even a choice. A-5 definitely for many reasons. The A-5 can shoot faster than the 98. It also shoots alot harder. An A-5 can shoot CO2 and air stock but a 98 can only shoot CO2. The A-5 is alot easier to field strip than the 98. The A-5 is also more accurate.
Get an A-5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

If you are going to get any type of 98 then get the 98 custom pro, not the 98 custom.
