    Posted: 13 October 2005 at 12:20am
i have been playing paintball for about 4 years and only until recently have i gotten serious.  i have had a low grade spyder at first and then upgraded to the a-5 which i am currently using.  Now my question is that should i upgrade my a-5 to use in speedball as well as woodball?  Funds are limited but i kinda would like a full auto for speedball. would an automag be the way to go? or something else?

open to any and all tips

thanks!

First, check your local rules.  Most speedball fields don't allow full auto, and most won't even allow RT.

Automags are not full auto either, unless you get an electro grip with f/a capabilities, although an RT Mag can shoot mighty fast in quasi-f/a RT mode.

The A-5 can be a fine speedball gun, but if you get into serious games you may find that the Cyclone is a hindrance sticking out from the side of the bunker.

If you want budget full auto, my suggestion would be to look into an electro grip for your Spyder.  They are quite cheap.  Make sure to get a good hopper, though - without eyes you could easily chop a lot at high ROF.

You could also get an E-Grip for the A-5 (which has f/a capability), and you won't need eyes because of the Cyclone.

For about $300, you could get a Wrath or an Ion, and for a little more, you could get a Promaster. I love the A-5, but many people would agree that if you're serious about speedball that you would want something else.

^^Yea, but keep in mind that if you get one of the above, you'll need a HPA tank and E-hopper. I'd just get an E-grip & JCS duel trigger for your A-5. That will make your A-5 a decent speedball gun.

I agree with SuzukiRider about the hopper, but I have been told that the Wrath runs fine on CO2 (my friend has one) The A-5 is a killer gun though.

I just recently upgraded my A-5, which is actually my first electro. I bought an E-grip, WAS board, and JCS duel trigger. Egrip/JCS A-5 is the way to go. It can be a pain to get it all set up and finely tuned but its great when your done.
