Lo, I put my co2 can on for the first time yesterday and everything seemed ok not that I would know but when I tried to take it off according to the Tippmann instructions it suddenly started going crazy and leaking badly so I panicked and tried to screw it back on, but it WOULDNT!!! So I screwed it completely off instead.. Tank O-Ring looks slightly damaged now and the gun still fires normally.  The End .  Can someone tell me how I can stop this from happening in the future please

replace the tank o-ring, next time unscrew it about 1 full turn and shoot until the gun goes dead.

Is replacing the Tank O-Ring important because I don't think I have any spares lying around and I would've thought it would be hard to find for some reason bearing in mind I live in UK in some little town.  It doesn't look that badly damaged.

You probably killed the o-ring when you tried to screw the tank back in, while the lines were purging gas.  It's perfectly normal to hear gas hissing while unscrewing your tank.  I could be one of two things.  One, it could just be the lines purging the gas that was left in them.  That's why The Guy said:

This purges the gas in the hose and valve.

Two, if the pin in the pin valve is excessively long, you might loose seal before the pin disengages the tank.  Just unscrew faster and you won't loose as much air.  Nothing is broke, however.

Ok, it WAS hissing but really hissing and LOTS of white gas coming out lol plus i think it took a lot of unscrewing for it to stop i cannot remember

It could also be the pin in the valve got cocked and wouldn't disengage completely.  In that case, you'd have to let the tank empty, so that the pressure wouldn't blow the tank out of your hands, then just push in the pin, to reseat it.  The white gas is "snow".  It's frozen air particles caused by the "immediate" state change of the CO2.

do this, but if after the third shot, its still shooting full power, then you need to unscrew it more.

When you un-screw your CO2 tank the air sort of 'freezes' the tank-o-ring which will result in a tear in the ring, which in the long run will lead to leaking. So next time you take your tank off, unscrew it probably about 3/4 of the way, then fire the marker and all the compressed air within it should be out.

Yeah lol.  Thanks for all your replies.  Anyone know where I can get an O-Ring from in the UK for cheap which would fit around the tank?
